Kinsey being in a drunk driving accident is specifically why Tyler did not get to go to, I don't remember, like the Bahamas, Cuba or whatever, with his friend and instead was going to spend the entire summer painting fences and shit in

Willits.

It's Baja, which is Baja, which I think is in California.

And that is Howl.

because they have to, in order to be able to put it through, they have to prove to the state or to some agency will let him talk about it when he comes on that there's no viable, uh, you know, use of it as a railway.

Well, when you have a railway connected to it, like the skunk train between Fort Bragg and Willits, that that's putting a kibosh in their ability to claim that it's not a viable Redwood trail or railroad and people aren't using it.

So now they're actively trying to shut down, uh, um the skunk train in order to bring this trail through and somehow the coastal commission has jurisdiction over that stretch of the railroad tracks and so there's a whole thing here that we'll unpack and get into Um, and how this is some hard on of some, you know, of some very liberal people in the state who just think this is the greatest thing ever.

And not even realizing like the history of the railroad tracks, how the people whose land it went through gave their land for pennies to the dollar of the value to the railroad, uh, in order to bring the railroad through.

I think I first met Richard in 2005, but it wasn't as cool of that nerd commentary.

But anyhow, I was pretty inspired by him to actually like relocate to this rural town called Willits, California.

I started essentially like channeling him and giving some public talks.

And like you said, there was these young people who would say, oh, you know, Richard was my teacher at New College.

So like there were graduates at New College that would show up to these public talks.

And it eventually turned into this organization called Willis Economic Localization.

And in early 2005, we invited him to come to Willits and give a public talk at our city community center.

And there were hundreds of people there.

So, uh-

So it goes all the way to Willits? Beyond.

She wore hard contact lenses and kept them in a little metal candy tin with cherries on it.

hard contacts mostly stopped being sold after soft lenses came out in the mid 70s so that fit with her being killed in the early 70s at first they thought that she might be Jeanette comma Haley who we talked about last week but her teeth didn't match Jeanette's dental charts and she's never been identified unfortunately Six days later, on July 8th, a couple was driving out to the coast in Mendocino County, which is the next county north of Sonoma, and they pulled off Highway 20 near the town of Willits.

One of them walked down into the brush and saw a skull sticking up out of a shallow grave on the bank.

Two bodies had been taped up with duct tape and wrapped in plastic.

And I met this lovely woman who was a massage therapist.

And she told me about this place called Willits, where women owned land, and it was called Women's Land.

And there was a whole thing that probably I don't think there is much anymore, but it was a whole thing.

And she told me to get the bus, the Greyhound bus, up to Willits, which is northern California, north of San Francisco, and that she would give me a phone number and this woman would meet me off the bus and I could stay on women's land.

So I did that.

And the myth is that I got off this bus in high heels, which I did not.

And then I met a woman, fell in love with her.

I would go down to Oakland.
