William J. Bell

So let's start with Y&R.

Billy and Sally's wedding took center stage.

Jason Thompson, of course, prior to this week, had teased that there would be life-changing storyline directions happening.

So, Rodrigo, let's go to you.

Do you feel we've gotten story now for years and years, as Jason promised? And what did you think of Sally and Billy's wedding?

I am

seeing, since we're getting closer to Dan and Jamie's November 11th first air date of their new writing material here, I'm loving the direction of what Sally McDonald, the show's EP, is doing.

I loved Sally's specter.

Mm-hmm.

Well, speaking of soap operas overall, especially CBS, let's talk about the amazing writeup that the Bell family, um, of soap opera royalty got in Forbes.

Um, this was certainly a shock, uh, to me when I read this.

But it's titled Meet The Family That Turned Soap Operas Into A $2 Billion Fortune by Monica Hunter Hart.

Um, just kind of going through kind of what it says, "Bell's daytime dynasty arose out of two shows he and his wife Lee Phillip Bell created in 1973 and 1987, The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful respectively.

Bill died in 2005 and Lee in 2020, but their three kids have carried on the steamy serials, which are still running and remain the country's number one and number two soaps.

Thanks to their success, Forbes now estimates that the family has amassed soap opera's first ever billion-dollar fortune, with a combined net worth of around $2 billion.

The Bells declined to comment on their wealth.
