William H. Dukeman Jr.

So we see another example, a bit like with break-up, where Winters knows when to push and when to fall back, having done what they achieved.

But they fall back in a controlled way under Winters' command, but they still lose Dukeman after he gets hit in the chest.

And then as the Germans with gunfire and artillery starts going from all directions, it must have been a hell of a shock and surprise for those Germans because they didn't see them coming at all.

And next it's daylight and we see that they're still there, but reinforcements have arrived.

Exactly.

I think that's where you maintain that moral superiority is the wrong word, but you maintain that... moral cleanness i suppose maybe or because moral clarity moral clarity yeah because you're you know you're accepting that because i can guarantee a lot of people prisoners were shot on both sides yeah and you know it happened a lot and so i think that like you say once they've surrendered they are no longer a threat as such yeah and see i think that's really interesting part but as We can see that the prisoners are marched back and the wounded, including Webster, are being treated.

I think they've got 22 men wounded and obviously Dukeman has died.

But Winters is clearly affected by this patrol and the battle.
