William Giffard

That was short-lived.

In 1102, Roger was appointed by the king of Salisbury's new bishop, but due to circumstances outlined in the last episode, if you remember, those involving William Giffard, Roger had to wait until 1107 to actually be consecrated that bishop of Salisbury.

During those five years, Roger was a constant defender of Gregorian reforms while also staying in his king's good graces, showing his very, very sharp political mind.

He was another one of Henry's more prominent new men.
