Gloria Jones was born in 1945, soul singer, songwriter, who achieved permanent music history fame by recording the original 1964 version of Tainted Love, which of course would become a huge hit for Soft Cell back in the 1980s.

Colin Young was born in 1944, sole vocalist to achieve fame after joining the Foundations as their lead singer back in 1968.

And if you take a well-established soul singer and team him up with... with a session musician, well, a session singer, I should say, who had done backing vocals for Wilson Pickett, Solomon Burke and Aretha Franklin, amongst many others.
