Will Yip

I'm actually in a band with one of the Menzingers.

And a friend of mine is their producer, Will Yip, who has a studio in South Philly, the nicest studio in the world, supposedly.

But Tom May from the Menzingers plays in a Pogues cover band called Bardust with one of the guys in Modern Baseball, actually.

And so I usually sit in with them for a few songs.

I don't even want to say third wave, but more like fourth wave emo from like the sort of like neon pop punk era and like the really like digital metalcore stuff that was happening at Warped Tour in the late 2000s is like...

I think there's a great quote from Will Yip.

I forget if it made the book or if it's in one of the early drafts, but he's like, people were tired of being fed bullshit.

You know, they wanted something that felt real.

P.O.D. have been teasing the announcement of their upcoming 12th studio album all year.

Recording sessions took place this spring with producer Will Yip that's worked with Circus Survive and Turnstile.

And, you know, we're really proud of what we're able to do.

And working with a producer like Will Yip on that really helped us sort of like start to be like, OK, like, how can we make these songs great? And I think that over the past couple of years, since we've been working on this debut record, we've been like, Like you said, what do we want to say? As much as we can be goofy, fun-time party boys, we really want to show people the inner machinations of what we're thinking of.

How it feels to be on the road and not necessarily always feeling like you are... doing the right thing or being in a relationship and not knowing when to stop talking and you're basically ruining it as you are trying to save it.

So we're just trying to show more people the emotional side of what we do.

He is just so miserable, and I believe they recorded with Will Yip, which means they had to all record live at the same time.

Mm-hmm.

And I love that, because the songs are so torturous, and he's just an incredible lyricist.

Well, it kind of feels like, you know, like when everything was being produced by Will Yip and it's just sort of-

Yeah, I g- I guess that professional relationship has gone on pretty well.

I know, yeah, Ryland at least and Will are pretty tight, so that's, that's cool.
