Will Poulter

That is not the case with the new film, Union County.

I have with me its writer-director, Adam Meeks, and its star, Will Poulter.

Guys, thanks so much for being here.

And let me start with you, Adam, because it really, it finally is a story about compassion, isn't it?

And what that stuff, those opening interactions in the film are our documentary interactions.

And so it was always the hope that it would be our kind of like our compassionate and empathetic lens into the story and into the community.

It's The Tree, and we're talking about the new film, Union County, with its writer-director, Adam Meekson, star Will Poulter.

And Will? I can't help but notice, and I think we talked about this a little bit at Sundance, that one of the things I think you have a real affinity for is showing how pride can get in the way of somebody's development.

So in Kay Brown's big speech, when they first confront the lawyer and she's got the rock and the sock for the first time, that's great.

oh and the funny the most I've ever laughed I've laughed in a theater especially by myself because I was by myself for this one in a very, very long time.

I'm not going to give away, but it's the payoff to a gag in Gail Doherty and a celebrity sex pass that involves a mailbox.

See, I didn't either.

Will Poulter.

Is that his name?

That's his name.

They both face obstacles as they navigate addiction.

Cody is played by Will Poulter, and Jack is played by Noah Centineo.

They are professional actors.

The rest of the cast are real-life members of a local recovery group, and many scenes take place in a real drug court.

And she is sort of the heart and soul of the recovery community.

She also becomes kind of that for our film, and she's also kind of the crux or the kind of pivot point that may, allows both the fiction and the nonfiction in the film to work because she can play, um...

She can exist as herself in, in her work, in this documentary capacity, and then she can, you know, sit down in a fictional scene opposite Will Poulter and h- you know, hold her own.

So, um, you know, it wouldn't be, it wouldn't be the film without her.

one dude is pretty much indestructible.

The Will Poulter's character, the gold guy, who's one of the worst dumb characters ever in Marvel.

He's great.

I love Will Poulter.

But he's at least indestructible.

Like, you can't kill him.

They know more about the maze than anyone.

And then, you know, our little Green Bean man tries to go outside, and Bill Poulter, what the fuck is his character name again? his character's name is Gally

Gally G-A-L-L-Y he fucking knocks little green bean over and he says I can't let you leave and he's like why not and then the wind blows and it gets all spooky and then the maze doors collapse and they're like welcome to the glade um newt says happy first day greenie here i was it puts your hair on your chest and he they drink like this homemade liquor and it's terrible like i don't know hell yeah it's it's a it's scally's recipe it sucks or whatever um but whatever the mage is scally is it scally oh golly yeah golly scally
