Will of God

On today's PowerPoint, Dr. Graham brings a message about how to embrace all God's called you to be and do.

Now here's Dr. Graham with his message, how to know God's will for your life.

Take your Bibles, turn to Romans chapter 12 and verse 1.

To know and do the will of God, and you can't separate the two.

And don't be conformed to the world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind that you may prove or discern the will of God, good, perfect, and acceptable.

The will of God is the key to happiness and fulfillment in our lives.

The purpose of life is to find, follow, and fulfill that purpose, God's will.

And if you are an octogenarian or a child, if you are a student or you are a senior adult, God's will is for all of us.

Saint John Paul II said, Saint Josemaria wrote a beautiful little book, Holy Rosary, which is rooted in spiritual childhood.

a disposition of the soul of those who wish to attain total abandonment to the divine will.

And it's true, Lord, through the Rosary, through keeping company with Mary, we learn to abandon ourselves completely to your loving will.

And we know that your will for us, Lord, is always good.

It's always actually the very best for us.

And our mother teaches us this by her own life, by her own experience.

Mary hands herself completely over to the divine will.

Behold the handmaid of the Lord.

That's what ensures that you'll receive.

The prayer of faith is also governed by praying in god's will first john 5 14 says now this is the confidence that we have in him if we ask anything according to his will he hears us and if we know verse 15 and if we know that he hears us whatever we ask we know that we have the petitions that we ask of him so look The word of God is the will of God.

So if you ask anything in line with the word, and I would include God giving you the desires of your heart.

If God has planted a desire in your heart, then that's his will if it doesn't violate his word.

One verse in Surah Al-Imran, this is verse number 129, Allah says, يُعَذِّبُ مَنْ يَشَاءُ وَيَغْثِرُ لِمَنْ يَشَاءُ He punishes whom he wills.

And this gives us, what we're looking at here is the mashia, the divine will of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.

Right? So it doesn't say he punishes who has obligated his punishment.

And he pardons whom he wills, not who is obligated to be pardoned.

he had good reasons for speaking so unconditionally let us beware of weakening the word with our human wisdom when he tells us heavenly things let us believe him his word will explain itself to him who believes it fully if questions and difficulties arise let us not seek to have them settled before we accept the word no let us entrust them all to him it is his to solve them our work is first and fully to accept and hold fast his promise let in our inner chamber in the inner chamber of our heart too the word be inscribed in letters of light every one that asketh receiveth according to the teaching of the master prayer consists of two parts

has two sides a human and a divine the human is the asking the divine is the giving

or to look at both from the human side there is the asking and the receiving the two halves that make up a whole it is as if he would tell us that we are not to rest without an answer because it is the will of god the rule in the father's family every childlike believing petition is granted if no answer comes we are not to sit down in the sloth that calls itself resignation and suppose that it is not god's will to give an answer no there must be something in the prayer that is not as god would have it childlike and believing we must seek for grace to pray so that the answer may come It is far easier to the flesh to submit without the answer than to yield itself to be searched and purified by the Spirit until it has learnt to pray the prayer of faith.

And so, so cavalier.

How did you, so speaking of God's will, right? Cause you felt that was God's will.

You said God's will to marry this person.

How did you determine, how'd you determine God's will? How did you do that?

I think it was just a combination of all those things.

It was me praying and feeling like God was telling me a certain thing.

Plus those two passages I read last week.

And, um, I used to believe that I was giving people, I don't know, bumpers on both sides of the trail, so to speak.

Our financial goals are determined by our plans.

But Jesus calls us to allow both to be fully formed by God's will for our lives.

And now we're going to continue to look at what submission looks like in these chapters by looking at some of the prophetic words that Jesus shared, starting in chapter 21, verses 5 to 9, where Jesus foretells the destruction of the temple.

It says this, And while some were speaking of the temple, how it was adorned with noble stones and offerings, he said, As for these things that you see, The days will come when there will not be left here one stone upon another that will not be thrown down.
