A
22:06AaronHOST
We're going to play Bo Webster at eight.
A
22:09AaronHOST
And then we watched Bo Webster and Will Jacks look like they're Ravi Ashwin and Matai Miralitharan on a wearing pitch on day four and five.
A
22:17AaronHOST
The one that Will Jacks spun through Steve Smith's gate made him look like he's a front line off spinner.
A
22:24AaronHOST
But we decided, no, we don't need that.
A
22:25AaronHOST
We're going to play a batsman, like a batting all-rounder as our spinner at eight.

And, and not-- la- last but not least, is it attracting the premier domestic talent back to New Zealand to play in New Zealand? And is it attracting comparable overseas talent to the SA20 and the Big Bash? I think that's the pass mark for me, because if you can attract talent that is comparable to or shows a tremendous amount of promise, I think the Big Bash for a number of years looked to young English cricketers, for example, Phil Salt, Tom Banton, to name a few other, to, to name just a couple, to come and play in the Big Bash.
B
11:11BaldyHOST
And those guys, Will Jacks, those guys are now household names in English cricket, not because of the Big Bash, but the Big Bash was a stepping stone in their development journey.
B
11:20BaldyHOST
And at the very least, I think New Zealand are going to have to attract players like that to grow the standard of the domestic game here locally, to give those young up-and-coming New Zealand players on the cusp of international duty, um, or on the cusp of domestic circuits, great overseas mentorship and competition, and also to attract the numbers in terms of fans across those six markets in totality.
B
11:46BaldyHOST
And that's gonna be really the key is, can you pack out not necessarily an Eden Park outer oval, because that was packed out for most of the, um, the domestic T20 series last year from, from reports of, you know, people like yourself who went along to those games and took their families-

A

Um, I mean, um, you mentioned Will Jacks there.
A
12:31Alan GardnerHOST
He was player of the series, and he's had a, a sort of interesting, uh, journey in, in this white-ball setup where, you know, he's a, he's a guy that opens most franchise tournaments or, you know, uh, plays a lot of, um, white-ball cricket.
A
12:46Alan GardnerHOST
He's at the top of the order.

But, you know, I don't see Rayan Ahmed as that like-for-like replacement for him.
B
29:19BinksyHOST
I actually probably think Will Jacks is the one that unlocks that middle order.
B
29:25BinksyHOST
I mean...
B
29:26BinksyHOST
Talking about who can bat in those middle overs of an ODI and then go at the end if he needs to do so, I really like Will Jacks.
B
29:36BinksyHOST
He's a proper player.
B
29:37BinksyHOST
In another scenario, I could see him playing three formats for England.
B
29:45BinksyHOST
To answer your question, Michael, yes, I think I'm really happy with what we're doing in that middle order space.
B
29:51BinksyHOST
But I'd sub in probably Will Jacks for Ray and Ahmed in terms of probably the pecking order in my eyes, at least.

Root, Brook, Butler, Jacks, you have a solid middle order right there, right? Yeah.
