and i'm talking when i say comics i'm talking original art here right not yeah a comic book Well, he has all that, but then I started snapping pictures for you because George Lucas also bought originals from Frank Miller, Jack Kirby, Gil Kane, Will Eisner, Charles Adams, Gary Larson Farside originals.

Oh, wow.

Those are in this museum as well.

And, uh, by the way, exact same day that this episode goes live, so hey, what a coincidence.

Uh, and by the way, Mark Evanier, who was literally Jack Kirby's assistant back in the 1970s, and, and then wrote the Eisner-winning authorized biography of Kirby, uh, he's been hinting that he's got another, you know, book about King Kirby of his own in the works.

Hmm.

[laughs] Uh, so but, but also while they're working on that they are working on several pitches, including, um, some impressive line pencil tests.

They wanted to make a PG, an ambitious PG adult animated version of Will Eisner's classic comic The Spirit.

Hmm.

That test footage you can find out there.

I mean, there's a famous thing that's like, there's so many stories that you find, you know, found out about Harvey that you couldn't make it their way into the film.

But Will Eisner, who's also another example of somebody who had a good business skills and a great artist.

Yeah.

would always chastise Harvey and say, Harvey, you got to get this stuff written down.

like the authorities had nothing better to worry about.

No one knows who wrote or drew them, but Will Eisner, creator of the masked crime fighter The Spirit, was working in a New York City printing shop where he remembers a guy straight out of the mob who offered him a job drawing Tijuana Bibles for $3 per page.

That's in Depression-era money.

It would be about $60 now.

To a certain extent, everybody in the arts period, but definitely everybody in comics has those stories where, like, when they think back on them, they just kind of pinch themselves.

And they're like, really? I spent a weekend with Will Eisner.

That was from Durf Bechturf recently.

Like, his very first con, he introduced himself to some guy that he didn't recognize, and it was

Will Eisner.

Oh, for sure.

They wound up just hanging out all weekend.

He was in there for a few weeks.

And he was working on a book that actually, it was called PS Magazine, Preventative Maintenance, that the Army would put out, that Will Eisner started up way back when.

My father took it over.

And he was even drawing while he would draw that, the covers and things like that.
