And so I wish I'd experienced that moment with you, but for you to actually realize that you had helped take this team to its first playoff spot, what ran through your head and what kind of enduring memory does that leave you with? Um,

it all started, believe it or not, in 94 with the strike year.

You know, I came over from San Fran.

I was having a wonderful year.

I was an all-star that year.

I was hitting 360-something at the all-star break.

And then, you know, the strike came about.

You

I guess, what's the reputation for a place like Laredo as compared to a place like McAllen, for example?

Well, I'll tell you what makes Laredo different.

And this is from my personal experience, not necessarily reputation from my experience.

If you pick a jury in Laredo, so you get your panel of 60 people pulled from the community, you're gonna have a level of knowledge and expertise in trucking that you're not gonna see with any other panel anywhere else in the United States.

I mean, we had, out of our 60 people, we had five or six CDL drivers, which is like 10% of the pool is CDL drivers.

We have another five or six that work at trucking companies doing logistics.

Then you have another five or six who are tangentially connected to the industry.

I spoke about this a few times.

I used to have a radio show and I never liked doing radio mixes.

I love playing live.

Doing like mixes for radio shows just doesn't really appeal to me.

So I was doing that and I was just like speaking to Ryan, my manager.

I was like, dude, I've got to stop.

Like how do you, in your opinion, how should artists think about their sound in 2026? How, how much does it matter to have a lane and to stay in it? When is it the right time to change? What about all these artists that don't want to be stuck in a box? You know, what, what do you say to that?

French revolutionaries, correct me if I'm wrong, Will, seemed like they were more concerned that the people's will had been thwarted by the monarchy, and they were trying to make sure that that couldn't happen again.

Yeah, so that's really the next big difference is kind of the powers of the various branches of government.

So, you know, the Americans invest a lot of effort into trying to make sure that their judicial and executive branches do have a reasonable amount of power compared to the legislature.

Yeah.

And the French are coming at it from a completely different perspective because, as you said, David, they're not prisoners of their own history, but they see the world, even though they're reading the same philosophical texts and the same historical texts and they have the same conversations and ideas, their experience is that a privileged order A small minority, not only the king, but you've had judges in terms of the parlements, you've had the nobility.

They want to ensure that no privileged order, no small minority, no corporation, no estate could infringe on the will of the people.

And so that is why they are far less concerned with kind of balancing out the various branches of government.

What role does personnel have in terms of implementing these early constitutions?

Yeah, I mean, it's kind of loaded.

I mean, but, you know, I mean.

We had started the 89 World Series, went over to Oakland.

They had been in the series in 88 against the Dodgers, and they were loaded.

And so we lost the first two games there in Oakland, and we were coming back to San Francisco where we had played extremely well.

And we had, you know, 62,000 screaming fans in the stadium.

You know what? I, I tried, I tried to negotiate.

And the whole year in '93 I tried to negotiate, and come about August, uh, they just said, "Nah, we're, we're not gonna, we're not gonna talk anymore." So I was like, "Okay." So the last day of the season, '93, we, we come down to the last day to try to win, go into a playoff with Atlanta and all that.

We came up a little short in Los Angeles.

And Peter Magowan and Bob Quinn, who was the general manager, come in the clubhouse.

And I'm sitting in the corner, and I got the traveling secretary standing right next to me.

I said, "Watch this." And he, he's like looking at me going, "What?" I go, "Watch, watch Quinn and Magowan." They went through the whole clubhouse and said, you know, "Nice year, good job.

So that line, just for, for context, there is a deputy that warns that the revolution will replicate Saturn, which is a reference to ancient mythology, and kind of devour its own children, and the revolution does do that.

If I think about the National Convention, almost a third of deputies are arrested at some point in time between 1792 and 1795.

Almost 10% will die from one means or another.

So it is a revolution that is famous for killing its most prominent members.

As to why the French Revolution becomes what it becomes, that is a question that historians have spent an enormous amount of ink trying to answer, and there is absolutely no consensus.

I would offer just a few quick kind of highlights, I suppose, of that debate.
