Will Carling

I thoroughly enjoyed talking with Will Carling on this show.

And he brought up the values of rugby and just how they're not championed and talked about enough.

What are your thoughts on that?

But even I, as a person who would watch the Five or the Six Nations and be interested, and I recall actually early in my life thinking, oh, David Duckham's pretty cool.

And then Will Carling became something of a superstar.

And then this man, Jonah Lomu, turns up and he, I think it's fair to say, revolutionises the sport, doesn't he?

Well, in 1995, the game is still amateur.

Brilliant player.

He runs the 100 metres in about 10.7 today.

So you have got this complete, and we'll call him Will Carling calls him this after this famous semi-final, this complete freak of nature where you've got this man who can run like the wind, but is 19 stone and is six foot five and rugby had never seen it before.

And life is all about timing.
