So their game plan, like Eric said, was bet that you can stop the run with a six-man box, play shell coverages, and again, like Eric said, hope cj car gets impatient he didn't and i i know a lot of fans would have liked to see cj car be like drake may in the thursday in the opener forcing it downfield when it wasn't there but they were so thrilled with his performance especially in the second half taking what the defense gave him checking it down do you know what you've talked all offseason about how good the receiving backs are at the ace williams and nolan james jr especially james just dump it down to them, let them make plays, hit the dig to Jordan Faison.

How about that left guard, Anthony Knapp, man? He got a ton of national attention for that performance and for good reason.

He was burying guys into the ground.

And not only was he creating highlights, he was so helpful for the left tackle, Will Black.

There were a couple plays, and I talked to Mike Golick Jr., obviously no stranger to Sports Talk Radio or Offensive Line Play this week about it.

Center and left guard, Notre Dame has two NFL players.

Will Black, I think, will develop into that, but it's early to say.

Left guard and center, it's the best combo in college football.

But at that point in the game, he wasn't thinking that right.

Um, When something like that happens early on and it's a first year starter at left tackle and then you think, OK, well, Will Black is going to have to block Sebastian Cheeks all game.

Of course, you're going to do it a certain way.

And even if you think about right before the halftime, Lambert gets beat.

almost blew that play up where if we would have just put the tight end on the left side next to Will Black, it would have been fine.

We could have comboed up to that linebacker and the play would have been fine.

And he almost threw Anthony Knapp off of his block because he's pushing him right in the back, trying to get through to get to the linebacker.

So that's why Prescott started there.

I think there was a little bit of the moment was too big for him.

And especially now it was, it was Will Black that guy got, but I guarantee you it was after that strip sack where Will Black, by the way, really, I mean, that was his only bad play of the day.

It felt like, I mean, really had a great game, kind of just needed to get, get that punch in the face.

Yep.

And he's got a guy who I wouldn't say will black is all American caliber right now, but he also just took his first career snaps and, you know, he's definitely got potential within a year or two to be in that all American.

A hundred percent.

He's got all American attributes, right? Like he's got, he's got that and he's got that ceiling.

Although with NIL, you know, like it's kind of a magic, a magic elixir.

Like you just, you, you never know how far that's going to go with some of these guys.

Seeing Will Black and Anthony Knapp together for two years, I think that could be an elite situation.

Even this year, by the end of this year.

They said the 2-0 turnover margin, like think about that.

They're very fortunate that it was a 2-0 turnover margin because of the strip sack and probably the best play that Stiles Prescott made in the game was jumping on that fumble when it was dislodged from C.J. Carr, which, you know, first time starting left tackle, by the way, Will Black, as good as he is and as good as he played for the most part, Like, he got beaten pretty badly on that play, and C.J. Carr, you know, paid the price from the backside.

They were fortunate they didn't give up that fumble, and they were also fortunate that the blocked punt was not more disastrous
