Wild One

She's on a roll and it's all uphill.

She's a wild one with an angel's face.

She's a woman, child in a state of grace.

And she was three years old on her daddy's knee.

He said, you can be anything you want to be.

She's a wild one.

She loves rock and roll.

They said it's Satan's time.

[upbeat country music]

[upbeat country music]Faith Hill, Wild One, the song that launched her career and promptly informed everybody else that she had arrived.

It was Faith's debut single and first number one hit on the Billboard Hot Country chart.

But here's the fun part, Faith wasn't the first to record it.

Zaccha Creek put it on an album in 1992, then Evangeline recorded it in '93, and apparently the song was just sitting there waiting for Faith to show up and make everybody regret not paying closer attention.

Years later, when Faith put together her 2007 greatest hits album, she admitted she hadn't listened to Wild One in years.

It's funny how that works.

Sometimes you don't appreciate where you started until you've actually gotten somewhere worth looking back from.
