Wild Cherry

You know, all that stuff.

Their Big Four are Pilot's "Magic," Wild Cherry's "Play That Funky Music," Ram Jam's "Black Betty," Stealer's Wheel "Stuck in the Middle With You." This is from Ultimate Classic Rock.

The Big Four of one-hit wonders from...

Uh, I'm sorry.

Okay

... next up is Wild Cherry, a song that came out in 1976.

I do not know.

I don't, I don't know the b- Never heard the band.

They, they called these, by the way, they were doing the big four of '70s one-hit wonders.

The first one was that Magic song that's now an Ozempic jingle by a band called Pilot.

This is a band called Wild Cherry.

Here's the song.

I was like, play that funky music, white boy.

Who's that by? Wild Cherry.

Of course.

Oh no, I didn't mean to actually play it.

Stoned Age, pretty great soundtrack.

You got Blue Easter Cult, Don't Fear the Reaper and Burning for You, Foghat, Slow Ride, they're kind of ripping off, and Driving Wheel, Black Sabbath, Paranoid, T-Rex, Bang and Gone, Wild Cherry, Play That Funky Music, The Tramps, Disco Inferno, and more.

And so it's a fun, goofy, underrated, I think, stoner comedy.

which like I said, long overdue, great to see it get a lovely Blu-ray.

Roxanne was signed by Scotty Records and their self-titled album was released in 1988.

The singles were Cherry Bay, Sweet Maria, and the cover song Play That Funky Music by Wild Cherry, which did chart at number 63 on the Billboard Hot 100.

This gave Roxanne national exposure.

They played Cherry Bay and Play That Funky Music on the Lake Show.
