White Mountains

Inside were letters to his family members.

These letters detailed how he had planned to take his own life in the White Mountains.

His family were distraught and immediately contacted the authorities who started the search for him.

Unfortunately, despite the combined efforts of the Vermont State Police, the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department and search and rescue crews, no sign of Robert has ever been found.

And of course, one of the oldest themes out there is the theme of The devil.

This one's from a little place called Lisbon in the White Mountains.

In New Hampshire.

This one took place in 1934.

So Lisbon sat in the foothills of what they call the White Mountains.

It's a little quiet farming town back at that time.

And when storms rolled down the ridges.

My map here says like the North country, like from, uh, maybe September 23rd through say the 27th will be peak foliage.

And then starting like end of September into early October looks to be peak foliage for, uh, white mountains so good stuff

yeah i'm always watching uh the weather too weather nerd here uh and it looks like sort of the after we have it looks like we've got a little bit of warm-up coming maybe like wednesday thursday friday time frame but it looks like pseudo below average temps for maybe the next 10 days after that so i think that'll probably speed things along going to the end of september

Showers developed and spread east yesterday afternoon and evening, more numerous south of Route 2 in Vermont and the White Mountains of New Hampshire, decreasing going north thanks to a minor storm sliding east along a weak weather boundary.

By last evening, high pressure strengthened over Ontario, pushing the front and its showers and clouds to the southeast, leaving us relatively mild this morning.

A second front lies farther north in Quebec, just some patches of clouds along the front, but it should instigate some gusty northwest winds, bringing in some much cooler, fresher, drier conditions this afternoon.

Number one, the hidden White Mountains ghost town.

Located within the White Mountain National Forest lies a hidden ghost town that thrived in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, known for its bustling logging industry.

Friday will be dry but breezy and cooler.

The details this afternoon, mostly cloudy, scattered showers, heaviest from Route 4 southward and north to the White Mountains in New Hampshire, Highs from the upper 60s to mid-70s, light and variable winds.

Scattered early showers tonight from the Champlain Valley south and east, tapering off.

Lows from the mid-50s to around 60.

It's gorgeous.

The White Mountains are incredible.

But yeah, I went to that one after I DNF'd Jigger Johnson 100, and it was kind of like a little redemption race for me.

And I just kind of went into it thinking this is an adventure.
