White House Plumbers

The number of Richard Nixon-related films is remarkable.

All the President's Men, Blind Ambition, Gaslit, The White House Plumbers, and on and on.

The only topics Hollywood covers more than Nixon are slavery and racism.

What's going on here? Why are Hollywood and the media so obsessed with Nixon? I'm Patrick Karelchi.

A writer at large for New York Magazine, he was previously chief drama critic and an op-ed columnist for The New York Times.

He executive produced the long-running HBO series Succession and Veep, as well as the limited series White House Plumbers and The Regime.

He's also executive produced the documentaries Six by Sondheim and Becoming Mike Nichols.

His books include The Greatest Story Ever Sold: The Decline and Fall of Truth from 9/11 to Katrina, and the memoir Ghost Light.

They even reunited recently to play ex-spouses on the Netflix series The Kaminsky Method.

And honestly, her ultimate boon, her greatest elixir, is simply her survival and her enduring vibrant vitality.

In the recent HBO series White House Plumbers, she plays Dita Beard, a tough, eccentric lobbyist involved in the Watergate scandal.

Turner describes the real-life Dita Beard as a true survivor.
