Our guest is Jerry Brown.

He's the executive director of the Convention and Visitors Bureau for Alpine Helen, located in the Blue Ridge Mountains in White County, Georgia.

Jerry, I understand that in 1968, the lumber industry sort of played itself out there, and local business folks and an artist came up with the idea of turning this town into something totally different.

Tell us about that, and was the town called Alpine Helen before its transformation?

A lot of retirement homes here in the area as well.

Well, I find it fascinating.

I got to tell you, Jerry, I've never heard of this place.

He called 911 and he stood by and waited.

Well, that's White County out there, by the way.

And the crews, they sent up a drone.

And once he got pinpointed, a White County firefighter named Will Roper rappelled down.

They set up on the top of the mountain, rappelled down, harnessed the kid up, and then the rope team pulled him back up to the top.

And once they got on site, the whole operation took about 42 minutes.

It happened on Mount Yona, where White County public safety officials say the man called 911 from a mountain ledge, saying he'd become stuck.

Rescuers responded by launching a drone to locate the climber and then setting up a repelling rig to make their way down to safely collect him.
