Whisky Advocate

I started to see the change in, uh, in media, and, um, I, I could kinda see that the future was in, like, YouTubing and, and podcasting and things like that.

And, and I, I began to notice that my reviews in Whiskey Advocate and the articles I wrote would get more attention, and people would talk about them more when they just put my score out in social media, and I wouldn't-- a- and I was just like, "Did anyone read the tasting notes? Did anyone actually, you know, read the magazine?" And then I began to realize that nobody was actually subscribing to Whiskey Advocate or, you know, reading it.

They were just hearing from someone that I or John Hansel or Lew Bryson had scored, um, High West 96 points or Four Roses got an 89, and there were people who were like, "Ooh, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah." And, um, I, I began to realize that the media landscape was changing, and I didn't wanna be, I didn't wanna be left behind with, 'cause I love, I love the, the world so much.

I love bourbon so much, but I could very easily see myself no longer being able to make it, uh, as just a writer.

Minnick and San Fran's, usually they release in June, but you have to have stuff submitted by February, I believe.

I appreciate the whiskey advocate list because there's usually things on it that I've never heard of or tried before.

And at least is like, Oh, well, like maybe that's worth trying.

The, the Booker's rye, this was...

You know, it won, uh, Whiskey of the Year in 2017, I think it was, with Whiskey Advocate, and it was so special.

The 13-year-old rye just was just gorgeous.

And I sipped it with Jacqueline, my wife, and it was a, a pretty incredible memory.
