Whim Creek

Coincidentally, this was another Christmas crime.

Two days before last Christmas, 1911, at Wim Creek, a miner was fatally stabbed in a hotel fight that involved two Italian men.

Unlike the recent punitive expedition against Aboriginal people, these Italian men had been arrested and there'd been an inquest that had committed them to trial.

So there'd be a prosecution, a defense, Sir Norbert Keenan, and some 14 witnesses were to be called down from Whimms Creek, which would involve going by boats from Ballaballa.
