looking at the list and I'm thinking, was there anything in here that I particularly liked? And there really wasn't.

When a Stranger Calls is not horrible.

It has kind of an interesting high-tech... twist on the original story

So we get into Rosemary's Baby, Poltergeist, Copycat, The Others, Midsommar, Hereditary, Alien, of course, Halloween.

When a stranger calls.

Yeah.

And Nosferatu.

And I'm curious if you had saw the movies that I recommended for you.

I had seen Halloween.

I had never seen When a Stranger Calls.

So that was new to me.

So I need to actually sit down and watch it sometime, even though I'm not expecting great things.

And When a Stranger Calls, the beginning of that film is really memorable, where the babysitter's at home and she's getting calls, have you checked the children? It's like, who is this? Why do you keep bugging me? And it turns out that this is a killer that's inside the house.

The cops tell her, you need to get out of there.

He's inside the house.

And the director here, Fred Walton, he kind of had cred.

He directed When a Stranger Calls.

That's another series that we could do one of these years for Halloween because it had a sequel, which Fred Walton also directed.

It was called When a Stranger Calls Back.

It was a TV movie in the early 90s, though.

So I don't know how good it will be.

We have Army of Darkness.

We don't need to say, we don't need to be... sort of dictatorial about like well this is an evil dead movie can't be this and it can't be that this one though like doing the whole mocking deadite thing and then having it be in service of something dark like that and like but not doing not saying anything insightful just saying like by the way you were too weak to leave me and so on and so forth like you're just like stop like this is just not what you think it is so I was I was bummed out by that there was a screening that I skipped for whatever reason or another because I just got in bed juju off that one like it's not bad feeling off it so i'm glad i waited for streaming for that one um a movie that i also had been meaning to uh to kind of cross off my list for a while uh finally saw the original when a stranger calls okay um which uh you know west craven famously borrows the first 10 minutes or so for scream and rightfully so because the first 10 minutes rule um The rest of the film, not so much.

I didn't really very much care for the rest of the film.

I don't know.

I haven't seen it in years.

I know there are fans of When a Stranger Calls Back, which I want to see because it has Jill Sholin, but I've never seen that one.

Absolutely.

Absolutely, When a Stranger Calls is a big influence on this.

So Williamson actually originally wanted to direct Scream as well, but when he sold the script to The Weinstein Company, Bob Weinstein actually made him take a, quote, "director's test" to prove he could do it and the director's test was that he filmed that bathroom scene with ...

So basically where Sidney is stalked in the bathroom, he had to direct that scene as sort of a test.
