But the boat that really captured our hearts came out of Marin County, California, where an octet of octogenarians became the first all-women's crew of rowers in their 80s to compete in an eight-person boat at the regatta.

One of the women, Barbara Burling, told local Boston station WHDH that none of them had a chance to row in college, and most of them just started rowing in their 50s.

Now they're all best friends, and they made the cross-country trip together for this opportunity.

Bad ass.

He is due to be arraigned today.

We can hear from one witness to the crash on WHDH.

It looked like a tornado came through.

There was car parts everywhere.

I'm ready.

So Ortiz told WHDH, "I was getting ready for work, and then I heard a bubble." She captured video of what she described as a tornado of poop forming in her bathroom and spewing out of the toilet.

The sewage reportedly destroyed everything in the bathroom- [sniffs] ... including her wedding dress, floors, and walls.

Ortiz estimated it would cost $8,000 to clean up the damage.

In December of 1976.

Then, just three years later, in 1979, two newsmen from WHDH saw a UFO on March 23rd.

They said it was shaped like a home plate of a baseball diamond.

And they said it emitted some type of a mysterious green substance at the intersection of Route 24 and Route 106 in Taunton.

Luckily, there were no injuries, and there is an investigation underway to find a cause for that collapse.

Here's Deputy Chief Robert Denning on WHDH.

So we had a phone alarm for a technical rescue response for a partial building collapse.

Mm.

[cheering]

Next, a longtime friend of Carl Yastrzemski's, and a longtime friend of all of us who've had to get up early in the morning over the years, the voice of WHDH Radio, and a voice of day and night radio, television, and just plain live, Jess Cain.

He will be here in a moment.

He will be here representing Notre Dame, where Carl Yastrzemski went for one year before coming here.

I have two gifts for Carl, two tangible gifts

giftsWhich is not the same as the gift I carry in my heart for him and his family.

I have, I have a framed poster which all of you received today on behalf of the cooperation of the Red Sox and from WHDH, this film poster for Yaz.

And Yaz, I've been on the phone to Notre Dame for a full month.

He was pronounced dead at a hospital nearby.

Here's Paul McLoughlin on Boston PD, from Boston PD on WHDH.

At this time, uh, as you can see, we are very early in the investigation.

We have a very active scene that's being processed at this point.

... without their knowledge.

[laughs]

Um, here's one parent on WHDH.

I think it's a good idea.

Um, terrible story.

We can hear a bit from the press conference on WHDH.

The Coast Guard's response to this incident started approximately 2:00 AM on Saturday when we were notified by the Federal Aviation Adminis- Aviation Administration that they had lost contact with the Gulfstream G100 aircraft.

That's very sad.
