What the World Needs Now Is Love

I thought the use of other music I thought was really entertaining.

I thought that, you know, the fact that they had, um, uh, What the World Needs Now Is Love, uh, at the end was really great.

Um, you know, [laughs] and there was that really drunk, uh, woman in the street, that really drunk blonde g- uh, Welsh woman in the street.

She was really good.

Love is what the world needs.

One of my favorite songs written by Burt Bacharach is the song, What the World Needs Now.

It is what? Love.

Love, sweet love.

And I would say what the world needs now is love, God's love, the sweet love of Jesus.

Our world is so loveless because it is so godless in so many ways.

In fact, Jesus would tell us in another one of His addresses to the disciples that at the end of days, the end of time, that the love of many because of iniquity, because of sin would grow cold.

It's called I can't remember what it's called.

What the World Needs Now.

And it's a load of writers like

me, Mark Billingham, Martin Edwards.

In 2012, brilliant American lyricist Hal David passed away from a stroke at the age of 91.

Partnered with composer Burt Bacharach, David penned lyrics to dozens of pop standards, including Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head and What the World Needs Now is Love.

And in 2023, the legendary singer-songwriter, author, and billionaire entrepreneur Jimmy Buffett, the Parrothead himself, passed away at the age of 76 due to cancer.

He had built a huge lifestyle empire around his tropical rock hits like Margaritaville, inspiring a dedicated fan base globally known as the Parrotheads.

It's almost intangible, but I could feel the clean break between the 1950s music and now the 1960s music.

The 50s were hanging along like the first concert I ever went to was Dick and Dee Dee and Jackie DeShannon, who sang What the World Needs Now is Love, Sweet Love.

But Dick and Dee Dee were still back in the days your parents would go dancing with you.

So there were things lingering and there was an overlap.

And I think it was Beverly who said she'd not heard it.

This is based on the theme of what the world needs now is love.

It was a great presenter by the name of Tom Clay that does the voice from memory.

Those of us who loved him and who take him to his rest today pray that what he was to us, what he wished for others will someday come to pass for all the world.

As he said many times in many parts of this nation, those he touched and who sought to touch him Some men see things as they are and say, why? I dream things that never were and say, why not?

Jackie DeShannon was born in 1941.

She was one of the first major female singer-songwriters of the rock and roll era, famous for singing What the World Needs Now Is Love and writing the hit song Betty Davis Eyes.

She sang the song, by the way, What the World Needs Now Is Love, although Dionne Warwick was one who really made that song popular.

Tony Spaghetti McCale was born in 1942, lead singer of the Detroit doo-wop group The Reflections, famous for their song Just Like Romeo and Juliet.

Clydie King was born in 1943.
