Whaley House

So the next day, and usually when we're at a location, we're only there for a couple hours.

Like Whaley House, I was there maybe four hours, five hours.

But I did the analysis afterwards and they would put the EVPs back in the show.

But I would discover a lot of these Excuse me, EVPs either during that seven days or when I was home.

You want to try and keep that in your team.

Yeah.

I've always felt, I mean, I learned that when we were doing dead fame, especially like the third season, second, third season, but even the first season we're at the Whaley house and the, uh, I'm at the top of the stairs making contact with some of the spirits.

And I feel something racing towards me.

And what happens is when people see our ads, they'll go to, I don't know, what's a good example? San Diego, right? San Diego is a cool city.

Lots of people visit there, but it's not exactly known as being haunted unless you talk about the Whaley House or something.

But then a lot of people don't even know about that.

So they go to San Diego, they see advertisements for ghost city tours.

And right on the corner of San Diego Avenue and Harney Street stands a stately two-story brick mansion that carries a weight so heavy even the midday sun can't seem to warm it.

They call it the Whaley House.

And for over a century and a half, the folks who lived, died, and lingered inside have refused to give up their claim to the ground.

Now, to understand why that house is so troubled, you have to go back to 1852, long before the first brick was laid.

In the courtroom, where the town once held trials and argued over disputed land, visitors have watched the heavy brass chandeliers slowly begin to swing in wide rhythmic arcs back and forth as if pushed by pendulum, while the air in the room yet remains dead and still.

Upstairs in the nursery, the unmistakable sound of a baby's frantic crying echoes from an empty wooden cradle that gently rocks on its own rudders.

The phenomena are so consistent and widely observed that in the 1960s, the United States Department of Commerce took the unprecedented step of formally declaring the Whaley House an officially certified haunted structure, a designation virtually unheard of for an American historic site.

If you visit today, the docents will tell you to keep your eyes open and your ears sharp.
