Westin St. Francis

He knew where Nixon was headed.

Dearest Joyce, I write to you from the St. Francis Hotel here in San Francisco.

As is true every time I travel, it's very hard being away from you and the kids.

Washington feels so far away.

To this day, I walked into the Westin St. Francis in San Francisco for the first time to check into my room the first time I went to San Francisco for work, and as, as soon as I got to my room, I called you and I said, "This hotel is haunted."

[laughs]

I had no idea.

Yeah

... uh, just always an uneasy feeling, like I could never get comfortable.

The Westin St. Francis, I stayed up almost all night just staring at the door.

[laughs] Waiting to see-

Well, because there would be, say we would be at the St. Francis Hotel.

There'd be 300 people in the audience.

He would have, Werner Erhard would have me sit there in front, and people in the audience would submit a card with the name of somebody and the age and the sickness.

Item two, $17 for incidentals along the way, including transportation from the airport to the St. Francis Hotel.

I walked the eight blocks to the Commodore Building where Ed Porter had his office on the fourth floor.

He was a short, thin insurance broker with a face like a tight drum.

My last experience with Werner Erhardt was him regressing me on video.

I've never seen the video, but it was at the St. Francis Hotel.

We often had things at the Jack Tar, but this was a big, big event that, you know, a lot of people came in the ballroom there.

And I didn't even know he was going to regress me.
