Westfield Wheaton

The Lyon sisters, 12-year-old Sheila and 10-year-old Kate, they were bored.

They had a few dollars burning a hole in their pocket, so they asked their mother if they could make the short walk over to the Wheaton Plaza shopping mall.

They wanted to check out the Easter decorations, get some pizza, meet up with some friends from school, typical kid stuff.

Wheaton, Maryland is a suburb outside of Washington, D.C. It's tight-knit, safe, most certainly not the type of place where parents worried about their kids, at least not back then.

And his mugshot looked a heck of a lot like the sketch of the creepy teenager who'd been staring at the girls that day in the mall.

And 30-something years later, he was still more than happy to talk.

He said he was outside a liquor store a few miles away from the Wheaton Plaza Mall when he saw a man shove Sheila and Kate into the backseat of a black Plymouth and drive away.

He claimed he called the police from a phone booth to report it.
