Ottawa now two losses in a row going into Panda.

Queen's riding a big-time momentum swing going on to take the Western Mustangs next week.

Yeah, Wade, and speaking of those Western Mustangs, they stay undefeated as well.

So one of those undefeated teams will fall this coming weekend.

But let's talk about their game against the McMaster Marauders because this one really was a close matchup, if not for one quarter, where a surprising one for McMaster, a defense that we've been praising all season long, gives up everything.

And he is playing well above his skis and beyond his years.

And it is so fun to watch, to see this new...

I guess, new age Mustangs defense have kind of their leaders in him, Thurby, Hawkinson, and the other corner's name I'm going to draw a blank on, Owen Jackson.

After an exhilarating 41-20 home victory over the Ottawa Gee-Gees, the Queen's Golden Gales must now set their sights on a historic rival and a team currently sitting one space ahead of them on the OUA playoff standings.

The Gales will travel to London on Saturday, October 3rd for a much-anticipated matchup with the Western Mustangs.

This will be the first meeting between these two programs in the Michael Falds era.

The last matchup between Queens and Western was played at Richardson Memorial Stadium as the 2025 season opener, and it was an instant classic with these two teams going into quadruple overtime before Western was eventually able to complete their comeback with a Brian Garrity field goal winning 45-42.

It also extends their winning streak over the Ottawa Gee-Gees to nine consecutive games dating back to that 2021 COVID season.

Queens prepares for a major road trip against their longest team, Most hated, and certainly most successful rival, the Western Mustangs.

Queens will be traveling to London to take on the 4-0 Mustangs on Saturday, October 3rd.

And CFRC, of course, will be there live, providing all the on-the-ground coverage.

This one was not close, not very quick.

It was 23-0 after the first quarter.

But it's certainly an interesting thing to forecast.

It's just fun to think about right now at this point in the season and Jerome Rancourt is playing some darn good

football as are the Western Mustangs.

I've seen a lot of good football at Ottawa to start the year, and I like what they're doing.

But speaking of Yates Cup potential early in the season, Wade, a team that is often talked about for the Yates Cup, the Western Mustangs.

They have an old four matchup with the Toronto Varsity Blues at Varsity Stadium at 1 p.m. this weekend.

It's another fun, action-packed week here in the OUA.

Connor, we had some really good games, some really high-scoring games, and certainly, I guess, the game of the week that we're going to start with here, the Western Mustangs.

coming all the way back in that second half to take down the Windsor Lancers, Connor, a game that felt like, you know, Western was not really in good football to start and turned it all the way around.

They somehow found a way to keep themselves close.

So, um, yeah, be great to see how he does if he, if he does take, uh, you know, the route for a few years anyways, uh, uh, of playing professionally.

But, uh, yeah, just to speak, uh, to, to Jack Fairs as well, uh, I remember having Jamie Crombie on, and he was back, uh, he was on that Western Mustangs team back in the mid-'80s with, uh, I think Gary Waite might have been there for a year or two.

Uh, just all, all the very best junior players, uh, out of Canada would end up playing, uh, for Western, and he had some great, you know, he told some great stories about taking the bus down.

Like Jack would drive the bus down to the US or what- whenever they play down there and just, you know, the funny, funny stuff that would go on there, and it just sounded like he was such a, you know, like you said, infectious, uh, person to be around.

I, I, I, I now remember.

Yeah.

Uh, before you go, uh, you, you mentioned Western Mustangs and how they, they've been do- they've won 42 straight.

Is that right?

They ran the ball really, really well.

They wore down... laurier in that game to help seal that victory and and that's something that you know we talked about in the preview show that that really led them to the win was their ability to tire out a defense and wear down a pretty good laurier golden hawks defense so we'll see if they can repeat that this week against what was a really darn good western mustangs defense in their matchup against the york lions

Yeah, and I think for Western's defense, Connor, a lot of new faces, new places.

I heard them talk in the pregame about eight out of 12 were brand new starters from last year.

But here's an opportunity where I think that they've got a chance to really start opening it up and tacking downfield.

We've seen York now give up deep yardage plays to Carlton and Elijah Barnes.

We've seen York now give up deep yardage plays to Jerome Rancourt and the Western Mustangs.

So I think McMaster, looking at what has shown to be a little bit of gap in the York Lions' defensive capabilities, is their secondary.

We will talk about that one later on, but I am glad we did not put anything on that between the two of us because your Ottawa GGs certainly went to town on the Toronto Varsity Blues in that one.

But we got some games that we talked about, a lot of really good games, obviously with the nightcap being our focal point with the Western Mustangs.

Yeah, we'll start there, right? We previewed that one as the game of the week this week.

It is the season debut, the new team debut of Michael Faults with the Western Mustangs.

And Wade, I don't know about you, but this one did not disappoint for me.

We saw Jerome Rancourt.

Missed on just four passes.

He was 24 of 28, well over 300, two passing touchdowns.
