West Genesee Central School District

My wife has been a teacher, elementary school teacher, reading interventionist, and continues to work in that capacity.

So I represented teachers out at West Genesee.

I'm all for teacher autonomy and then teaching the way that works best for them where they feel is most effective.

But we've learned a lot in the past few years and phonics based learning, evidence based learning called the science of reading is really the direction where we should go.

This was implemented at West Genesee when I was a leader of teachers.

I saw a lot of resistance to it from teachers.

Then we piloted it.
