West Fairview

So I remember telling my mom, "Hey, there's, uh, there's campsites on the Susquehanna.

Can I borrow a kayak? Uh, I'm gonna go solo." She's like, "I'll go with you." So in early August, we left Dauphin, PA, and we, we kayaked from Dauphin right to, uh, campsite 74B right outside of Harrisburg, near West Fairview.

Um, and it was a great day kayaking the river with my mom.

Then we got to the campsite, and she said, you know, "Enjoy the night." She went home.

So it's a historical entity, and it, it's very meaningful.

Plus, my grandmother, Cora Best, grew up in West Fairview in the 1870s, and she painted also, and I have a little painting in my dining room that she did back around 1890 of the river looking across from West Fairview over to the Area where I live now.

So it's been important.

My mo- my grandmother, uh, was very important to me, and she talked a lot about growing up along the river.
