Now, the game has evolved and changed-

But when it comes to the blocking, the blocking stays the same.

The blocking stays the same.

Most of these young, young offensive line coaches have learned from, from the, you know, the Moras, the, the Holmgrens, the, the, the Bill Walsh and, and the West Coast offense.

It's just everything else on the outside becomes the cherry on top, uh, uh, as far as the, the look is concerned.

[laughs] You know, you got a team that, that doesn't have the, the same type of tradition that goes back to the 1920s, but yet they have their own tradition that really started when Lavell Edwards came into play.

I mean, when I was coming up in, as a player and coaching, the West Coast offense was a thing.

One of the books that I remember getting as a young coach was Lavell Edwards' West Coast Offense book.

You know, Norm Chow, who did some great things at USC, came from BYU.

You think of the Heisman Trophy winner, Ty Detmer.

And the kid just plays.

Uh, he does the offense, the West Coast offense.

I mean, he does it perfect.

Gets rid of the ball, anticipates, knows where he's going.

We pay Ryan Fitzpatrick.

And then everybody figured out that our offense was heavily predicated on, hey, Ryan Fitzpatrick doesn't have an arm, so it's going to be a spread offense, a real true West Coast offense.

And if we bring our safeties down into the box, their defense is bad.

Dave Wanstead's trying to give every one of these games away.

Little dump out passes to the flats, right? Let them get yards after the catch.

That's the old Bill Walsh, San Francisco 49ers, West Coast offense, right? A four-yard catch by a running back is just the same as a four-yard run, right? So I think it's me seeing what this offense and defense can be if we find our identity.

So I think we're going to find our identity in this game against Detroit.

Yeah.

And the, and the final thing I'd say that I've said, and, and if you think I'm missing one, these are some of the big ones.

If you think I'm missing one, I've said I didn't think it would work well with him in a new offense, i.e. a West Coast offense.

And so far, I mean, he's been, been, been the best player on the team.

All right, let's all go on the record with what we think is the Eagles' biggest issue, 'cause they're 2-0 because of Jalen Hurts, but they've had more negatives than positives this year.

Cohen will get very creative.

I think if Marcus Jones does a good job against Parker Washington, I'm taking Christian Gonzalez and Carlton Davis against those other two wide receivers every day of the week.

And if you're playing good coverage and you're getting pressure on Lawrence, again, it opens the door for him to make mistakes.

One last point, West Coast offense, you want to run the ball early.

You want to run the ball, which brings play action, which brings the bootleg action.

I think that would have been a good fit.

Again, Sean Payton, it rents his version of the West Coast offense.

Again, very different than the Shanahan, you know, Mike Shanahan and Holmgren and all, you know, Bill Wall Street.

But it definitely probably would have worked.

Sometimes you'll see a fullback, and the Rams got to be ready for all that.

But something I noticed a ton, too, now going to their passing attack, Mark, everything's very short.

Yes, will they go deep? Yes, will they hit intermediate? But it seems like majority of the passes, right, very West Coast offense, attacking short, attacking in the low intermediate range.

So can the Rams please avoid the bend but don't break, right? Can you play more man-to-man? Can you lock up Jalen Waddell and Corlin Sutton? And look, tell me if I'm wrong on this, Mark.
