Uh, how would you, you know, pursue and charge cases differently than Chris Hicks if you were elected?

Wes DuncanGUEST
Well, look, I mean, you know, the, the, the two, two reasons for running, I, I wanna make our community safer, I wanna restore integrity to that office, and the third m- most important thing is we have to deliver justice for victims of crime in this community whose cases, uh, have went uncharged and unprosecuted, uh, by the current district attorney.

Wes DuncanGUEST
And so you have to get back to a charging standard where, you know, when the police make an arrest, they make a pl- probable cause arrest, uh, the way that, that, that it works when you're trying to keep a community safe is that there's a probable cause arrest, the case is charged on probable cause, and it continues to move through the system that way.

Wes DuncanGUEST
Obviously, if you go to a, a trial, everybody's heard the word proof beyond a reasonable doubt, you're gonna have to get to that standard.

Wes DuncanGUEST
But you shouldn't be holding law enforcement to a proof beyond a reasonable doubt trial standard at the stage that they're just submitting the case to the office.

Wes DuncanGUEST
What's happening is a lot of those really dangerous cases are being dropped, people are being released back into the community, and then those folks are committing more crime.

Wes DuncanGUEST
And if you can imagine this as a law enforcement officer, you know, many of them are under-resourced.
6 MINS LATER

Yeah, obviously, um, I'll give you the point that, you know, if certain cases aren't being prosecuted, and you, you've listed several examples, but, um, wouldn't it be more of the police's responsibility if, if someone's car is not being or is being broken into and, and that's not being investigated that, uh, if there's not a case for the DA to prosecute, that doesn't-- that's not their responsibility, right?
