MartinHOST
31:28
That's of course Conor Chaplin.
MartinHOST
31:29
Wes Burns is no longer here.
MartinHOST
31:31
Is, is there anybody, Matt, as Lee sort of details the squad in, in g- in, in detail and, and mentions it and defends his point really well, but is there anybody you're fighting to say, "Actually, do you know what? I think now we've got the better players.
MartinHOST
31:42
I think they, they would stand out more at this level."
TimHOST
11:59
So that, I think, you know, that position still needs sorting out.
TimHOST
12:03
But other than that, you know, Wes Burns dropped.
TimHOST
12:06
I think we'd have all wanted that.
TimHOST
12:07
Deckard Over-Reed dropped.
ChrisHOST
75:24
I hope it's him and O'Hara.
ChrisHOST
75:26
Wes Burns is another one that's got to get the crowd over.
ChrisHOST
75:30
He got on that.
ChrisHOST
75:33
But now, I can't talk about Ayoub or Dakar without also talking about
NeilGUEST
50:48
So definitely Connor Chaplin.
NeilGUEST
50:50
Have you got Wes Burns as well?
ChrisHOST
50:52
We have.
ChrisHOST
50:53
We have.
ChrisHOST
50:59
So he's not really, the one time when he did start a game, he was captain.
ChrisHOST
51:06
So, yeah, I think he's got potential.
ChrisHOST
51:10
Wes Burns has actually scored one of the few goals we've scored this season.
ChrisHOST
51:14
Unfortunately, he got Todd with the bus, who was absolutely crap.
Dave HendrickHOST
28:29
Uh, Ashley Young retired, that might also be a win.
Dave HendrickHOST
28:33
Wes Burns gone, Harry Clarke gone, George Hurst gone.
Dave HendrickHOST
28:36
I liked George Hurst but there was no spot for him, and ultimately I think they've had a good outgoings window.
Dave HendrickHOST
28:44
Uh, in terms of incomings, um, they loaned in Alex Noonan from Shamrock Rovers, which I'm, I'm curious about.
Aaron PaulHOST
45:36
... a big football club.
Aaron PaulHOST
45:37
And, and I, at the start of the season said, "Hey, you know, when you have a Wes Burns and a Conor Chaplin in, it's, uh, their, their quality in, in that division.
Aaron PaulHOST
45:46
They are very, very good players in that division." And part of me also wants to say that this time last week, Nuno Espírito Santo was under pressure at West Ham United.
Aaron PaulHOST
45:57
They've won three games in a week, and they're now top [laughs] of, of the league.
Jed WallaceGUEST
47:31
Obviously, that was at Bristol City with me.
Jed WallaceGUEST
47:33
Um, obviously Chappers has gone there.
Jed WallaceGUEST
47:34
Wes Burns has gone there.
Jed WallaceGUEST
47:35
So for League One, what, what you hear and what they're doing is, is crazy.
Dave HendrickHOST
31:15
Uh, Ashley Young retired, that might also be a win.
Dave HendrickHOST
31:18
Wes Burns gone, Harry Clarke gone, George Hurst gone.
Dave HendrickHOST
31:22
I like George Hurst, but there was no spot for him, and ultimately I think they've had a good outgoings window.
Dave HendrickHOST
31:30
Uh, in terms of incomings, um, they loaned in Alex Noonan from Shamrock Rovers, which I'm, I'm curious about.
Charlie CarmichaelGUEST
16:46
Lewis Page, obviously being able to retain him on deadline day as well, and the performance he put in, uh, particularly against Plymouth.
Charlie CarmichaelGUEST
16:52
Um, you know, so to hear that, you know, in Russell Martin's head they're the problem and that we need more Wes Burns, we need more Liam Collins, we need more Bobby Deak with David Reites is concerning.
Charlie CarmichaelGUEST
17:01
More Harry Souttar's.
Charlie CarmichaelGUEST
17:02
You know, they, they are, they are the players that have been letting us down so far this season.
Charlie CarmichaelGUEST
19:14
You know, we've seen Luke Thomas have relative success at center back but pr- would probably look more assured on the, on the left of a back three, uh, same with Badiu Luco.
Charlie CarmichaelGUEST
19:22
Uh, and then allowing, you know, the likes of Callum McFarlane and Jaden Joseph to play more wing back roles.
Charlie CarmichaelGUEST
19:26
Wes Burns played a wing back role for, uh, Ipswich previously and obviously hasn't offered much threat in terms of the, the more advanced wing position, so maybe that would suit him a little bit better and also frees up two of our most creative and most promising players in Will Alves and, um, Harry Howell to kind of play as those, those number 10s.
Charlie CarmichaelGUEST
19:42
You know, not, not to compare us to Chelsea by any stretch, but you look at the way that Morgan Rogers and Cole Palmer are playing at the minute in those kind of free roles behind Joao Pedro and you think if we can unlock, you know, uh, Will Alves and, um, and Harry Howell in a similar capacity with two kind of more reserved, uh, holding midfielders, whether that's Lundstram and Braybook or Page or whomever it might be sitting behind them, um, you know, that would be my pre- preference.
Craig FinbowHOST
37:46
So while your roast beef's in the oven, you can catch those two coming on as 85th minute subs for their respective teams.
Mikey Pentti-SmithHOST
37:56
live on premier sports i think henry's the only person i know that has that uh channel legally anyway legally is and i'm guessing that that's it that's ipsa's choice although a couple of people are pointing out i think we were picturing that every week in ipsa's choice we just get to wax lyrical about wes burns and conor chaplin isn't working out like that is it craig
Craig FinbowHOST
38:19
No, it's sort of a double-edged sword because it's absolutely hilarious that it's not working out for Russell Martin, as Trevor says there.
Craig FinbowHOST
38:27
But by the same token, it's got to be pretty galling from Wes Burns and Conor Chapman's perspective that it's not working out for Russell Martin.
Craig FinbowHOST
38:36
There was a news item earlier in the week, actually, maybe over the tail end of the weekend, that I think it was a TalkSport news article as well, saying that he's... position was uh being understandably being looked at already this season because you know what's that's ridiculous stat about him was it three league wins in two or three years of with three different clubs or so and one of those being ranges in the scottish premiership um yeah he's he somehow you must interview spectacularly well um but you know you would think that that type of football that we all know Russell Martin plays, you wouldn't think is particularly conducive to the way that Wes Burns likes to break and get forward and sprint past the fullbacks.
Craig FinbowHOST
39:22
But hey,
Mikey Pentti-SmithHOST
39:24
His name did pop up in the chat.
JamieGUEST
17:23
Um, but yeah, we've got a couple of decent wingers there now.
JamieGUEST
17:27
Oh, Wes Burns from Ipswich.
SteveHOST
17:29
Yeah.
JamieGUEST
17:29
Um, yeah.
JamieGUEST
17:34
It really is, it's uncanny.
JamieGUEST
17:37
Uh, Ipswich was saying, "Oh, you, you've bought some cracking buys.
JamieGUEST
17:40
Wes Burns, Conor Chaplin." Wish they could have stayed with us.
JamieGUEST
17:43
They've not really done it yet for us at all, so we're a bit worried about Wes Burns.
