We're in the Herald.
N
35:58Nick CodyHOST
Our team won like 78 games in a row or something, the Werribee Tigers.
N
36:02Nick CodyHOST
And we won every game from under 12s, round four, until the under 16s grand final.
N
36:07Nick CodyHOST
And we lost that.
The BEST mature-aged AFL Draft prospects + Grand Final predictions
M
19:43Mitch KeatingHOST
I don't think a VFL side has produced more AFL talent.
M
19:47Mitch KeatingHOST
Maybe outside of Werribee in the last four or five years than Box Hill.
M
19:50Mitch KeatingHOST
And a lot of that goes through Hawthorne, headlined by John Newcomb.
M
19:53Mitch KeatingHOST
But yeah, if the Hawks don't pick him up, it sounds like someone will at some point, hopefully, for him.

B
16:47Ben CasaneliaHOST
You mentioned Herbert and obviously now, and then Katz Atkins and Tommy Stewart too.
B
16:52Ben CasaneliaHOST
And clubs seem, even Sean Mayer, had to wait until he was 26 to get a crack and predominantly through Werribee.
B
16:58Ben CasaneliaHOST
So it seems like it's a pathway now that clubs are looking at.
B
17:01Ben CasaneliaHOST
Perhaps it was thought of as, Maybe it's the second tier.

Yep.

We know the process is about to get cracking at North Melbourne to replace Clarko.
A
12:22Andy MaherHOST
Is there a senior AFL coach in Mick Barlow? Could he be a contender, you know, based on what you know of him for the North Melbourne job?
S
12:30Sam ClohesyGUEST
Well, I think that any club that gets McBo as a head coach would be so lucky.
S
12:35Sam ClohesyGUEST
He did such a good job with our Werribee team with not one AFL game experience and took us to a grand final.
S
12:42Sam ClohesyGUEST
Yeah, couldn't speak highly enough of him as well.

Yeah.

Back to Werribee?
M

VFL Rewind - Liston Medal Afterparty
P
4:19Peter LauscheHOST
Yes, he's obviously going to be a good chance.
P
4:24Peter LauscheHOST
Obviously, the way he came through the system to Werribee with not doing TAC Cup and all that and did it to hard yards in the Ballarat Football League with Darley.
P
4:35Peter LauscheHOST
Well done to Brady Wright on that effort.
P
4:39Peter LauscheHOST
It was great to see him rewarded for a good season.
B
8:30Brad MullenHOST
And our decision is in.
B
8:32Brad MullenHOST
The award was presented tonight.
B
8:34Brad MullenHOST
Congratulations to the Werribee Football Club, who are the 2026 VFL Rewind Canine of the Year trophy.
B
8:40Brad MullenHOST
Laoshi, tell us why Werribee won that award.
Why Richo thinks Toby Greene moving to Geelong is a 'no-brainer'
J
3:04Jimmy BartelPANELIST
And they've been able to convert Category B rookies, Irish guys, guys who play basketball, guys who...
J
3:10Jimmy BartelPANELIST
Sean Manor from Werribee.
J
3:11Jimmy BartelPANELIST
Yeah, so that helps...
J
3:13Jimmy BartelPANELIST
Well, that helps your cap, because they come in on a low base, and then even when they're at a top-out amount, it's nowhere near as high as some other guys.
M
4:36Matthew RichardsonPANELIST
I just thought I'd go back to a Geelong guy.
M
4:38Matthew RichardsonPANELIST
This is looking at it.
M
4:39Matthew RichardsonPANELIST
Manor was Werribee.
M
4:40Matthew RichardsonPANELIST
Humphreys was Waffle Twos.
AFL Draft Power Rankings: Top 6 shake-up + BIG movers
M
24:38Mitch KeatingHOST
It's going to raise the eyebrow or two.
M
24:40Mitch KeatingHOST
If I throw another name out there, because he's probably been floated as a potential national draft selection, Brady Wright from Werribee as a mature option, key forward, stellar season.
M
24:50Mitch KeatingHOST
It sounds like he'll be on an AFL list somewhere and somehow.
M
24:54Mitch KeatingHOST
Do you think it's still a national draft selection? If he's not in the top 45, there's probably another 15 to 20 selections all up come national draft night.
J
25:02Jonty RalphsmithHOST
Yeah, I think he gets selected in the national draft, and I think he'll be one of the higher-taken national draft selections from the VFL in recent years.
J
25:09Jonty RalphsmithHOST
He was very close to this top 50 or this top 45, and if it was a top 50, he'd be in.
J
25:15Jonty RalphsmithHOST
So, yeah, he was just there and just missed average three goals a game for Werribee, and projects as a more ready-to-go key position player than some of the others that we've discussed, like the Harvey Sporton guys and potentially the Sam Gafers, who will need a couple of years, you'd think, before they are ready to go at AFL level.
J
25:31Jonty RalphsmithHOST
Been really impressed with what he's produced at Werribee.
A left field contender for the North Melbourne job...

And for our VFA segment, we have got an absolute ripper, Liaschi, in Brian Taylor, which I'm looking forward to.
P
0:20Peter LauscheHOST
Yeah, the former Prahran coach and when he joined Prahran after his VFL AFL career with Collingwood was finished, he dabbled in a little bit of coaching with Prahran VFA and took a few of the Collingwood and Richmond players that he was familiar with down and Unfortunately, the Prahran Football Club only went another three years in 1994 when the restructure happened.
31 MINS LATER
B
31:18Brad MullenHOST
