Nick CodyHOST
35:57
We're in the Herald.
Nick CodyHOST
35:58
Our team won like 78 games in a row or something, the Werribee Tigers.
Nick CodyHOST
36:02
And we won every game from under 12s, round four, until the under 16s grand final.
Nick CodyHOST
36:07
And we lost that.
Mitch KeatingHOST
19:43
I don't think a VFL side has produced more AFL talent.
Mitch KeatingHOST
19:47
Maybe outside of Werribee in the last four or five years than Box Hill.
Mitch KeatingHOST
19:50
And a lot of that goes through Hawthorne, headlined by John Newcomb.
Mitch KeatingHOST
19:53
But yeah, if the Hawks don't pick him up, it sounds like someone will at some point, hopefully, for him.
Ben CasaneliaHOST
16:47
You mentioned Herbert and obviously now, and then Katz Atkins and Tommy Stewart too.
Ben CasaneliaHOST
16:52
And clubs seem, even Sean Mayer, had to wait until he was 26 to get a crack and predominantly through Werribee.
Ben CasaneliaHOST
16:58
So it seems like it's a pathway now that clubs are looking at.
Ben CasaneliaHOST
17:01
Perhaps it was thought of as, Maybe it's the second tier.
Sam ClohesyGUEST
12:10
to?
Andy MaherHOST
12:11
Former Werribee boy.
Andy MaherHOST
12:12
Yep.
Andy MaherHOST
12:12
We know the process is about to get cracking at North Melbourne to replace Clarko.
Andy MaherHOST
12:22
Is there a senior AFL coach in Mick Barlow? Could he be a contender, you know, based on what you know of him for the North Melbourne job?
Sam ClohesyGUEST
12:30
Well, I think that any club that gets McBo as a head coach would be so lucky.
Sam ClohesyGUEST
12:35
He did such a good job with our Werribee team with not one AFL game experience and took us to a grand final.
Sam ClohesyGUEST
12:42
Yeah, couldn't speak highly enough of him as well.
Dylan BuckleyHOST
51:50
Did you-
Mick BarlowPANELIST
51:51
Coaching at Werribee.
Dylan BuckleyHOST
51:52
Yeah, Werribee?
Mick BarlowPANELIST
51:52
Yeah.
Dylan BuckleyHOST
51:53
Back to Werribee?
Mick BarlowPANELIST
51:54
Uh, well, he actually got picked up by the Northern Bullets because we let him go.
Dylan BuckleyHOST
51:57
Okay.
Peter LauscheHOST
4:19
Yes, he's obviously going to be a good chance.
Peter LauscheHOST
4:24
Obviously, the way he came through the system to Werribee with not doing TAC Cup and all that and did it to hard yards in the Ballarat Football League with Darley.
Peter LauscheHOST
4:35
Well done to Brady Wright on that effort.
Peter LauscheHOST
4:39
It was great to see him rewarded for a good season.
Brad MullenHOST
8:30
And our decision is in.
Brad MullenHOST
8:32
The award was presented tonight.
Brad MullenHOST
8:34
Congratulations to the Werribee Football Club, who are the 2026 VFL Rewind Canine of the Year trophy.
Brad MullenHOST
8:40
Laoshi, tell us why Werribee won that award.
Jimmy BartelPANELIST
3:04
And they've been able to convert Category B rookies, Irish guys, guys who play basketball, guys who...
Jimmy BartelPANELIST
3:10
Sean Manor from Werribee.
Jimmy BartelPANELIST
3:11
Yeah, so that helps...
Jimmy BartelPANELIST
3:13
Well, that helps your cap, because they come in on a low base, and then even when they're at a top-out amount, it's nowhere near as high as some other guys.
Matthew RichardsonPANELIST
4:36
I just thought I'd go back to a Geelong guy.
Matthew RichardsonPANELIST
4:38
This is looking at it.
Matthew RichardsonPANELIST
4:39
Manor was Werribee.
Matthew RichardsonPANELIST
4:40
Humphreys was Waffle Twos.
Mitch KeatingHOST
24:38
It's going to raise the eyebrow or two.
Mitch KeatingHOST
24:40
If I throw another name out there, because he's probably been floated as a potential national draft selection, Brady Wright from Werribee as a mature option, key forward, stellar season.
Mitch KeatingHOST
24:50
It sounds like he'll be on an AFL list somewhere and somehow.
Mitch KeatingHOST
24:54
Do you think it's still a national draft selection? If he's not in the top 45, there's probably another 15 to 20 selections all up come national draft night.
Jonty RalphsmithHOST
25:02
Yeah, I think he gets selected in the national draft, and I think he'll be one of the higher-taken national draft selections from the VFL in recent years.
Jonty RalphsmithHOST
25:09
He was very close to this top 50 or this top 45, and if it was a top 50, he'd be in.
Jonty RalphsmithHOST
25:15
So, yeah, he was just there and just missed average three goals a game for Werribee, and projects as a more ready-to-go key position player than some of the others that we've discussed, like the Harvey Sporton guys and potentially the Sam Gafers, who will need a couple of years, you'd think, before they are ready to go at AFL level.
Jonty RalphsmithHOST
25:31
Been really impressed with what he's produced at Werribee.
Andy MaherHOST
1:26
True.
Andy MaherHOST
1:26
He's coached Werribee.
Andy MaherHOST
1:27
He's highly regarded.
Andy MaherHOST
1:28
True.
Brad MullenHOST
0:06
Luca Alessio will be our first special guest on this evening.
Brad MullenHOST
0:09
Then we are going to have Sam Azzi, who played his 50th game for Werribee Football Club.
Brad MullenHOST
0:13
And for our VFA segment, we have got an absolute ripper, Liaschi, in Brian Taylor, which I'm looking forward to.
Peter LauscheHOST
0:20
Yeah, the former Prahran coach and when he joined Prahran after his VFL AFL career with Collingwood was finished, he dabbled in a little bit of coaching with Prahran VFA and took a few of the Collingwood and Richmond players that he was familiar with down and Unfortunately, the Prahran Football Club only went another three years in 1994 when the restructure happened.

31 MINS LATER

Brad MullenHOST
31:18
Hopefully, we see him get to 100 and 150.
Brad MullenHOST
31:20
We'll keep on cheering him on.
Brad MullenHOST
31:21
He joins us on the line now from the Werribee Football Club.
Brad MullenHOST
31:23
He plays 50th game on the weekend against Box Hill.
