Carolyn SchönafingerHOST
18:02
And on this trip, I managed to do a couple of new trails for me.
Carolyn SchönafingerHOST
18:08
One was the walk from Kleine Scheidegg down to Wengen, and with the famous trio of the Eiger, Monk and Jungfrau nearby, it's hard to imagine a more beautiful setting for a walk.
Carolyn SchönafingerHOST
18:23
I also walked from Kleine Scheidegg down to Grindelwald, and I particularly loved the lower section of the route between Kleine Scheidegg and Grindelwaldgrund.
Carolyn SchönafingerHOST
18:34
And another lovely walk was along the Lauterbrunnen Valley floor from Steckelberg to Lauterbrunnen.
RayaHOST
1:34
And if you missed either of our first two episodes about Switzerland, would highly recommend going back and listening.
RayaHOST
1:42
We spent four nights in Wengen and three nights in Grindelwald, so a full week in Switzerland.
RayaHOST
1:47
exploring the Jungfrau region and had a phenomenal time so I think if that is on your bucket list at all we would highly recommend it
DwayneHOST
1:56
yes and do at least a week
Graham BellGUEST
17:49
18, 84.
Graham BellGUEST
17:50
I think my first race in Wengen.
Graham BellGUEST
17:54
I almost crashed.
Graham BellGUEST
17:55
I kind of came across the finish line, unclipped my helmet, and I think I might have swore because David Vine took great pleasure in telling me that they'd have to beep it out.
Rob StewartHOST
23:57
Of course.
Rob StewartHOST
23:58
I'm also going to go to Wengen for the men's Larbehorn races this season as well.
Rob StewartHOST
24:02
So that's really exciting.
Rob StewartHOST
24:03
That's very cool.
Kelly RizzoHOST
48:44
was the town? It was
Craig ConoverGUEST
48:45
called Wengen.
Craig ConoverGUEST
48:47
W-E-N-G-E-N. Um, it was outside of Interlochen and I like, but like, I went to this chocolate making class.
Craig ConoverGUEST
48:54
So I took a train to Interlochen and I was like, I'm going to go to chocolate making class.
RayaHOST

Switzerland.
RayaHOST
1:10
Hopefully you enjoyed last week's episode all about Wengen.
RayaHOST
1:14
And today we are moving over to Grindelwald.
RayaHOST
1:18
Now, When I was doing research, people basically recommend staying in one of these places.
RayaHOST
1:26
They say you can stay in Wengen or you can stay in Grindelwald.
RayaHOST
1:29
And I understand why because they are pretty close together.
RayaHOST
1:32
And so I do think that you could choose one or the other and have that as your home base and not have to move.
DwayneHOST
2:10
Is that, like, a rule? I don't know.
RheaHOST

In today's episode, our family of five is taking on Wengen, a car-free village in the Jungfrau region of Switzerland.
RheaHOST
0:07
We are hitting up mountaintop playgrounds, riding to the top of Europe, and breaking down what everything costs.
RheaHOST
0:12
So listen in.
DuaneHOST
1:10
Yes, all things Switzerland.
RheaHOST
1:12
Switzerland today.
RheaHOST
1:14
So I originally thought maybe we could get this all done in one episode, but I think it would just end up being a very long episode, so I do think we will split it up between Wengen, which is where we spent the first four nights, and th- and then, uh, next week we'll do Grindelwald, which was where we spent the next three nights.
RheaHOST
1:32
So we spent a total of seven nights in Switzerland.
RheaHOST
1:36
Um, and then the episode after that will be Milan and Rome.
Angie SparksHOST
30:01
Free, great, huge free breakfast for the Diamond members.
Angie SparksHOST
30:05
When we got to Switzerland, we went to Lucerne, we went up to the Lauterbrunnen Valley and stayed in Wengen, and we went to Zermatt to see the Matterhorn, and then we went to St. Moritz.
Angie SparksHOST
30:17
So we stayed in those different cities when we were in Switzerland.
Angie SparksHOST
30:21
And in Lucerne, I was able to use, uh, Marriott points, and we stayed at a Renaissance there.
Angie SparksHOST
31:50
So I would stay there, but just know that those are issues with that, and you need to try and make certain that you can get free breakfast there.
Angie SparksHOST
31:57
[smacks lips] And so in Lauterbrunnen, [sighs] there's the valley, and I know you've stayed there before, but you stayed in different towns than I did.
Angie SparksHOST
32:09
I, I looked at the choice between staying in either Wengen or Mürren.
Angie SparksHOST
32:14
Mürren's a little bit higher up.
