Wendy Hughes

And for our second movie, we have My Brilliant Career from 1979.

It stars Judy Davis, Sam Neill, and Wendy Hughes.

A proud young woman in early 20th century Australia must choose between marriage and independence.

While I was planning this season, I wanted to make sure that Dad had a chance to pick two movies.

And again, it's an impressive-looking cast, but this is definitely a first watch for me.

And like I'd already mentioned, not only does this movie star Jim Broadbent, but it also stars Wendy Hughes, Kevin Kline, Phoebe Cates, John Lithgow, Stephen Rea, and Peter Eyre.

A young woman arrives in 19th century England and claims to be a kidnapped member of a Pacific Island royal family.

Thanks for that blurb there, Google.

But at the time, it was a big time for Phoebe Cates.

We have a fantastic cast around it from...

And the duo of Jim Broadbent and Wendy Hughes as Mr. and Mrs. Worrall are just a wonderful coupling of characters.

Kevin Kline pay- playing an over-the-top sort of foreign character of Frixos is just a delight to see him doing character acting, as well as a really fun John Lithgow step in for a little bit of this movie, as well as the professor trying to figure out where this Princess Caraboo has actually originated from.

There were some cast changes.

Wendy Hughes got replaced

by Peter Tapano.

Okay, staying with the miniseries, there's two others on our list for what we've called iconic shows from the 80s.

And it features a lot of actors we'd known from other shows.

Martin Vaughan and Wendy Hughes starred as John and Mary West, but also in this was Rosie Spears, was in this.

George Malaby turned up in this.

Graham Kennedy even had a role.
