Well of Eternity

The Shendralar were a secretive highborn society that dwelled within the city of Eldrith the Lost, located in Feralas and known nowadays as Diremaul.

The War of the Ancients had devastating effects on many, and the highborn were already dependent on the Well of Eternity's magic.

When it was destroyed, the night elves suffered from magical withdrawal.

Their leader, Prince Tortheldrin, had a daring idea to try to help his people.

Right.

You see it with the Well of Eternity when they have-

... to blow it up to destroy the Legion.

Mm-hmm.

So now roughly 10,000 years before modern Warcraft, we have Queen Azshara and the Highborne.

They rule from Zin-Azshari, and they draw immense power from the Well of Eternity.

The reckless use of the Well's power attracts the attention of the Burning Legion.

[laughs]

She has, she's part of the Well of Eternity, the rise of the night elves, and all that fun stuff.

Um, what do you think Queen A- what, uh, what would it be like to work for Queen Azshara back in the ancient days?

Oh, probably terrible.

I would hope that we would get to, 'cause that's a very important storyline.

Yeah.

But the night elves were more centralized because that's where the Well of Eternity was.

It was more, like, where Val'sharah and Shu- Suramar are now-

And I think a lot of people are looking at the Sunwell as a literal thing instead of looking at it as what we've talked about here on this podcast multiple times, a very large power source that can be turned into a portal.

Because what have we seen with the Well of Eternity? What have we seen with the Sun Well? What did we see with the Night Well?

The original Well of Eternity, for that matter.

Yep.

In every single case, the power was used to open a gigantic portal to pull something in that could not come through.
