Weird Western

It really hits all of the notes of something that we would do on the Blood and Black Rum podcast, from the cast to the subject matter, uh, and then, you know, obviously the American Western theme that's going on here, along with the contemporary bent.

And also, um, something that I thought was really interesting is that this is one of those, what you would consider a Weird West-type, uh, film.

Um, something that was kind of propagated in the '50s with the EC Comics, uh, where they would, you know, like, they...

The EC Comics is mostly known for, uh, Tales from the Crypt, uh, you know, The Vault of Horror, stuff like that.

Um, they're horror comics, you know, pre-code horror comics.

However, they also were, uh, very influential in promoting this idea of the Weird West in that you have this kind of Western theme and, you know, Western set, uh, storylines, and then incorporate some spookiness, paranormal activity, uh, sometimes, like, sightings, alien sightings.

Um, stuff like that would be kind of i- combined into this Western theme.

And a lot of times, it still hit on a lot of those EC Comics, uh, moralistic tales.

That's what I do.

Robert Bobert asks, are the steampunk genre types and foci you have planned intended for the Weird West genre, or do you consider them separate genres?

Well, that's the cool thing about steampunk, right, is that when it is typically set, you know, in a fictional past, it happens to be right around the same time as, you know, what we call the Wild West.

And so it would be really easy to mix those, I think, you know.
