Weathering with You

This is the one.

The, the, the weather, yeah, the "Weathering With You."

Yes.

Yes.

That's okay.

I loved Weathering With You.

That was a couple years ago.

It was Shinkai, so he did Your Name and a lot of the greats.

So, Taki and Mitsuha's future.

Both characters cameo in Shinkai's next film, Weathering With You.

Its novelisation later references Taki's wedding, and Shinkai confirmed Mitsuha is the bride.

They eventually got married.

I also wrote down big, big anime films.

When I first saw Your Name, Silent Voice, Weathering With You, you're just kind of like, that was the greatest thing I've ever seen.

Then time goes by.

Maybe you see it a few more times and maybe you're eventually able to start being a little bit more analytical.

It literally has scenes from

Weathering With You on a big TV in the city with an AI filter over it.

It's not even a, whoops, we forgot to take out the temp assets.

It's theft.

in my work, often the horizon line between a sea horizon, the water, and the sky is often obliterated, and the two merge.

But the falling paintings were prompted by watching, again, some Studio Ghibli films, in particular, Weathering With You, which is a beautiful film.

And it's about being caught up in the weather, which of course we are, which is completely terrifying.

So although my figure looks at home in the air, falling and in control, I think there's always a feeling in nature or the nature that I represent that there's an uncertainty.

Keep going in blind, but each movie only gets better than the last as he had mastered his craft.

My guys, with the praise you have given Your Name, wait until you see Weathering With You and then finally Suzume.

Uh, lightning rarely strikes twice, but this time it struck three times in a row.

Weathering With You is on HBO Max, and Suzume is on Netflix.

Uh, and then, uh, hat tip to Andrew, who pointed out that when we were talking about the ending, uh, he's like, "That director is well known for doing the ending that Tom thought was gonna happen."

[laughs]
