We Live in Time

Welcome.

This is Grief is the Word, the podcast that explores grief in literature and film.

I'm Dominic Lamb, and I research grief and displacement.

Each episode, I will be talking to an academic about the bonds that tie us to the people we love and the places that hold us.

Films, plays have always been really important to me.

I do remember going to an open-air production of what I think was Romeo and Juliet when I was really young and being quite struck by the performance, even though I didn't quite understand it, and also being struck by the collective attention of the audience.

That's amazing and I guess the thing with Shakespeare is there have been so many adaptations and re-adaptations and modern retellings and I guess Hamnet is one of the most recent and thanks to the film by Chloe Zhao one of the most sort of famous adaptations at the moment.

So Hamnet is set in the 1580s and 90s and It follows a family in Stratford.
