We Happy Few

For the benefit of people who perhaps know your games or your work but don't necessarily know your name, can you please just sort of tell us who are you and how did you come to be where you are?

So I'm probably best known for We Happy Few, which I was narrative director of.

Um, I started in the video game industry, uh, back when we were still worrying about whether, um, we should make games for 128K because not every computer had that many K.

Uh, and then-

... who set me up with Compulsion Games around 2011.

I wrote Contrast for them, um, then, uh, put together We Happy Few and its two DLCs, um, and then we did South of Midnight, um, which has won a Peabody.

Um, and since then I worked on, uh, FragPunk, a, an online shooter, um, that failed to unseat Valorant as the big online shooter, and I've been, uh, making independent video games.

We Happy Few is their other one, which was published by-

Gearbox.

And We Happy Few was in early access for a while, is that right?

Yeah.

Okay.

But no, feeding into that whole thing of perceived reality and altering perception.

I don't know if you've ever played it, but there's a game called We Happy Few that came out a few years ago.

Do you know what? I read about it at the time.
