Panjwani is a familiar name in the cybersecurity business, particularly for anyone who's followed WatchGuard over the years.
Robert DuttHOST
0:40
He spent roughly a decade as WatchGuard's CEO, helping transform the company from a firewall-focused vendor into a much broader security platform provider.
Robert DuttHOST
0:49
That included expansion into endpoint security, extended detection and response, and managed detection and response.
Robert DuttHOST
0:55
Before WatchGuard, Panjwani also served as CEO of SafeNet, and that background is particularly interesting given the direction Acronis has been taking.
Robert DuttHOST
1:04
The company's been steadily bringing together data protection, cybersecurity, infrastructure management, and service automation.
Robert DuttHOST
1:11
The objective is to give MSPs more of the capabilities they need through a single platform, reducing the number of separate tools and management environments they need to operate.
Robert DuttHOST

Later today on in the channel, WatchGuard CEO Joe Smolarski joins us to discuss the changing security challenges facing MSPs in the age of AI and how WatchGuard is responding to those challenges.
Robert DuttHOST
6:53
And if you haven't heard it yet, yesterday's in the channel features Checkmark's channel chief John Cosimore.
Robert DuttHOST
6:58
We discuss how AI-assisted coding is accelerating software development, why traditional application security practices are struggling to keep up, and what it means for MSPs who may increasingly find themselves responsible for securing customer applications and AI-generated code.
PhilippaHOST

into this mesh network
Marc LaliberteHOST
12:17
But the benefit of that is like providers like WatchGuard or like other services out there, we can near instantaneously patch a vulnerability across the entire exposed surface like immediately versus if it's something that you as a systems administrator manage, you have to become aware of the vulnerability.
Marc LaliberteHOST
12:36
You have to get a copy of the the resolution, the firmware that fixes it.
Marc LaliberteHOST
12:40
You have to test that firmware.
Corey NachreinerHOST
13:39
So if 90% haven't even patched, 90% still have not even done any compromise assessment to see if they're affected by this, which is highly likely.
Corey NachreinerHOST
13:50
with how long this exploit has been around.
Corey NachreinerHOST
13:53
I will say, by the way, I think WatchGuard has released some tools.
Corey NachreinerHOST
13:57
And there's definitely a crapload of indicators of compromise in Mandy and in Google's report.
Ryan DavisGUEST
33:56
Is that going to upset you or is that actually add to the benefit, right? And so I think that's really where we're focused right now is this, where are the places where we need to have a human in the loop, right, to make sure that the AI is doing the right thing, the thing that we would expect AI to do.
Ryan DavisGUEST
34:14
But where can we also offload something that is repetitive and routine? And when I was talking with Corey over at WatchGuard, so much of their investigation of phishing emails is mostly automated at this point, right? That's a perfect example of of the technology being put to use that that I don't think is going to have any detriment to the end user.
Ryan DavisGUEST
34:41
And I think as the technology gets better, as we as humans train it to do the things that we expect as humans, it'll continue to improve.
Ryan DavisGUEST
34:51
But you've got to kind of keep an eye on that on that balance as to.
