Watcher

It's a tough watch.

Speaking of watching, The Watcher, excellent movie with Micah Monroe, one of our favorites, our scream queen, but it's set in Prague? It's set in one of those Eastern European cities she moves to with her boyfriend.

And yes, someone is watching her.

The blackening, because who doesn't love to be scared and laugh your butt off the entire time?

And that is...

Watcher from 2022, directed by Chloe Acuno.

A young American woman moves with her husband to Bucharest and begins to suspect that a stranger who watches from her apartment window may be a serial killer.

So I remember seeing Watcher in the theaters and coming out and being so, so disappointed.

And I think that's because I was expecting a traditional, like, cat and mouse horror film with a little bit more, you know, like, a little bit more punch to it.

And that is not what this is.

This is definitely more of a slow-born noir with a really, really sickening ending.

Like, an ending that, as I reflect on this film, I'm not quite sure if I'd ever be able to rewatch this because it bothers me so much to this day.

I think she's really good in Long Legs.

I think she's maybe even better in Watcher.

It follows.

Very good.

And Maika Monroe, like you said, has been a scream queen.

She's been great in It Follows, and I gotta watch Watcher, which Brandon has recommended to me.

Yes.

I can't stop recommending Watcher.

Yeah.

Watch Watcher.

I will watch Watcher.

She's fantastic.

You'll hear their names associated with things like Paranormal Activity, Insidious, many, many, many, many horror movies.

Spooky Pictures is associated with a few key feature films, including Watcher, Late Night with the Devil, Strange Darling, VHS Beyond, Dead Mail, VHS Halloween, The Plague, and Undertone.

I was like, the plague keeps coming back, but...

I will also say, if you have not seen Dead Mail, that one is worth watching.
