And that's in Tukwila.

But in Amazon, they filed a notice with the Employment Security Department saying they are permanently laying off 121 workers.

And by the looks of the list that they provide, which is required under state law, It looks like these are going to be factory workers, facility workers.

And so this isn't like big Amazon executives who are fleeing the state anyway because of the income tax or anything like that.

These are people who are working factory level jobs who are going to lose those jobs because of the state of Washington's poor business climate.

And I really encourage you.

And maybe, and this is a good way because it's like straight from the source, if you have friends or family members who are skeptical about just how dire the state's economic situation is and how these layoffs are ramping up, just send them the link to this notification portal for the Employment Security Department with Washington State because that's the first place you're going to hear about the layoffs because that's what law demands.

And so they can just sit there and track the list of how many hundreds of jobs every single week are leaving Washington state or how many businesses every single week are closing in Washington state.

We're just not seeing that.

So in an email sent to Washington State Employment Security Department, TikTok said 75 from its Bellevue facility.

And then they give that.

What they're saying, TikTok called the layoffs necessary.

And when we come back, we'll talk about what changes to employment benefits could mean for striking workers.

Washington's Employment Security Department just changed its policies on Friday, and now it requires striking workers to look for other jobs in order to receive unemployment benefits.

So backing up a little bit, last year, the Washington legislature passed a law allowing striking workers to receive unemployment benefits.

And it had initially exempted striking workers from job search requirements because those workers were still technically employed.

So it put this out saying the purpose of this rule making is to clarify that work search activities are required For claimants who are receiving unemployment insurance benefits due to a strike in accordance with the United States Department of Labor's interpretation of federal code, essentially.

So it says the Department of Labor has warned the Employment Security Department that its current work search rule is out of conformity with federal law and must immediately be remedied or the department may lose federal funding for administration of the unemployment insurance program.

So starting now.

If you're going to go on strike, and this really does, I mean, I still don't think the law should exist, but this is a pretty substantial change.

Like they're going to be out there seeking work and they're going to waste the time of people who actually need to fill the job and they're not going to take the job.

So I think it's sort of silly.

And so the Employment Security Department put out some information on how to track job search activities.

It says each week you submit a claim, you need to complete three job search activities.

Coffee giant Starbucks has notified Washington Employment Security another 224 employees will be terminated, but it does not represent a new round of layoffs.

The notice to the state says 104 layoffs are from organizational changes that were announced in May.

120 of the layoffs were employees who were given the chance to relocate to Starbucks' Nashville office, but declined.

That impacts them, too.

So TikTok, TT Commerce & Global Services, uh, notified the Employment Security Department of 75 permanent layoffs, uh, at their Bellevue office.

So just, uh, they just keep coming.
