Washington Road

Um, and on a county road, we can control most of that process.

But on a state route like Wrightsburg Road or Two Twenty-One, uh, Washington Road, Buries Ferry Road, uh, Columbia Road, a lot of the roads that run in Columbia County, we have to have-- we have to work with Georgia DOT on those projects.

Uh, and then they have the final say on whatever it is we want to do.

Uh, sometimes we'll go to them and ask them to pay for it.

And there have been times where the county has stepped up and said, "Yes, we will take care of that state project.

We will pay for it with local funds," uh, because it's that important to our community.

Uh, long before we had TSPLOST in Columbia County, we did that with a regular SPLOST project when we widened Washington Road from Gibbs Road out to Riverwood Plantation.

Uh, you may have heard me say this before, but that was a project that was gonna be studied by DOT around now, in the late twenty twenties, early twenty thirties, uh, hopefully to go to construction around twenty thirty-five.

Growing up in Evans, I'll say, is the growth along Washington Road.

So just thinking about as a kid driving past where Target and Mullins Crossing is, that was a par three course in a driving range.

Right, right.

Yeah, I think when Harold moved here and started Carolina Flying Disc, you know, late 80s, and just seeing this beautiful piece of property, right? I mean, it's just like Augusta National in the middle of Augusta.

You're driving down Washington Road, and you're like, wait, it's there? It's on the other side of that fence? Yeah.

and that's kind of what this property is.

You come out here and like, this is beautiful.
