Warren Ellis

Um, so we'll put a pin in this for right now, but, like, you know, uh, I'm gonna borrow something from, um, other, previous guest on here, Eric Sean Bourne.

He's got a, a movie podcast and, you know, and when he and I, we covered, um, [lips smack] uh, that Carnage one-shot that Warren Ellis wrote.

and since then so you're still in the space for the most part though because you talked about some stuff you're writing you were still are you still drawing as well or are you going to back up

yeah i am so i i recently drew a story with warren ellis that's in a comic anthology called lights out and um that went through backer kit i don't know if there's a plan for retail on that one yet um i haven't checked in with tom acol runs that um over at rocket ship uh the publisher that that's putting it out I haven't checked in with them in a while to see what the play is for going into retail with that.

But I'm assuming it's going to go retail as well at some point.

But that was through Backerkit, which is sort of a Kickstarter type thing.

Yikes, that might be a damage control just for invoking that.

But it says here, planned as Hellblazer number 141, writer Warren Ellis and artist Phil Jimenez explored the rash of school shootings in the U.S. as mystical rogue John Constantine gets involved with a psychologist writing a U.S. Senate report on the events.

The issue was pulled by DC in the wake of the Columbine school shooting in 1999.

I will say that, as I recall, when we were going through some X-Men spinoff titles, Marvel did do a story that was essentially in reaction to that.

In 1996, writer Ward Ellis pitched Marvel on a Kill Raven miniseries, reviving the character as a political terrorist fighting the Martians ruling over Earth.

They did do like that one shot with Joseph Michael Lindsner painting it.

But that's interesting that way back then, you know, Warren Ellison's trying to get Killraven back in the spotlight.

that they're re-upping their work with Warren Ellis, who kind of got Me Too'd a number of years back.

The Ocean graphic novel coming back in print from Image on this week's FRC.

Yeah.

And you have William Sadler as President Ellis, apparently named after Warren Ellis, who is the writer who is responsible for most of the Extremis arc in the Iron Man comics.

Oh, that's nice.

So President Ellis was named after that writer.

Great.
