Ward Cleaver

I mean, the newspapers were a monopoly pretty much.

I always think about, this is going back, so I apologize, but I always think about Ward Cleaver.

I don't know if you were ever a Leave it to Beaver fan or people have watched it.

People used to say I looked like the kid, the little kid.

Eddie Haskell? Whatever that kid's name was.

I don't know what his name was, but they used to call me that, and I'd be like, what are you doing?

If you look at that show, what you'll see is that the father, Ward Cleaver, is always sitting at the breakfast table and always reading the newspaper.

It's not even clear he has a job.

Um, Mr. Cleaver, the government's nuclear advisor, played by William Thomas-

Like, and I, you know, the way it's presented in the show, I think it might, might be just sitting on a pedestal.

If you notice, even Mitt Romney, who is running for president as Ward Cleaver, he's for change.

Now, of course, Leave it to Beaver was on the air about 60 years ago.

When the Republican slime machine gets a hold of the stuff that's just in his book, like where he says he loves doing drugs.

I mean, you know what kind of campaign they're going to run.

He is like, I mean, I.

This is the perfect example of Democrats and people in the media telling you how awful a guy is, and then now that it's after Labor Day and you're starting to pay attention to politics, you say, oh, this Ken Paxton guy, how bad is he? And you turn it on and you say, he's like Ward Cleaver.

He's like your boring uncle at Thanksgiving.

If anything, you know, give us something, Ken.

But.

He does eventually, looking a little Ward Cleaver here, put Jennifer into the car and says that he's going to try to get her to an institution to hand her over.

But it says halfway to the institution, she'd begin that awful silent pleading.

And I'm not sure how you plead silently.

Yeah.

Do you know what I mean? It's not that there isn't violence in that world, but th- there's that, you know, uh, Ward Cleaver morality.

You know, Mac X, when he was with his wife, even when it didn't work out, they probably had twin beds.
