Walter Neff

Richard Jenkins as Clyde Alden.

Keith Joachim as Walter Neff.

Carol Strykin as Fidel, and Becca Lisch as Mrs. Neff.

And it was directed by George Miller, director of such things as Mad Max and the Babe duology and Happy Feet.

It really does.

MacMurray plays Walter Neff, the cocky insurance agent, and Stanwyck plays Phyllis Dietrichson, the ultimate femme fatale who manipulates him into murdering her husband.

Now, on screen, Billy Wilder made a highly specific and very controversial visual choice to communicate Phyllis' nature to the audience.

He put Stanwyck in this incredibly obvious cheap-looking blonde wig.

And just forces MacMurray to freeze.

Exactly.

MacMurray's character, Walter Neff, is a fast-talking, cocky salesman.

He relies on banter.
