And it's just waking life, I think, I would chalk up to interesting experimental stuff going on.

So it's a very interesting year, which is why I had tried to do this project of watching all the movies from 2001.

And folks, it is August as we are recording this, and I am still back in April of 2001.

Memento wins Feature and Director.

The feature nominees are Memento, Hedwig, LIE, Things Behind the Sun, the Alison Anders movie.

And then Richard Linklater's Waking Life.

And then your first feature nominees are In the Bedroom, which wins, The Anniversary Party, which is Jennifer Jason Leigh and Alan Cumming, The Believer, aforementioned Ryan Gosling movie where he plays a Jewish skinhead, Donnie Darko, and Ghost World.

It's like 20 minutes long, called Live from Shiva's Dance Floor, which Richard Linklater made in 2003.

And it follows Speed Levitch, Timothy Speed Levitch, who people would know from the film The Cruise by Bennett Miller, which is fantastic, but also from Waking Life, my personal favorite film.

And it's Speed Levitch, who's like, you know, a kind of unconventional tour guide of the city, giving a little bit of a it's like a performance art piece to to the camera to link later about New York.

In the wake of and after 9-11 and what the World Trade Center represented and stuff like that, there's a really, really good moment in it where they're at ground zero and there's like a fence around it.

So I mentioned to you that Mulholland Drive was the last movie I saw before the September 11th attacks in the Toronto Film Festival.

The first movie that I saw after the September 11th attacks at the Toronto Film Festival was Waking Life.

I can see why, but it's still a shame, and I know Cronenberg wouldn't have let us down in the gore department, except he did, because he completely changed the ending.

Flow state movies, Darren Aronofsky's The Fountain, another comic adaptation, Richard Linklater's A Scanner Darkly and Waking Life, both using interpolated rotoscoping, just really pushing the envelope for what you can present on the screen.

Like Waking Life or this Richard Winkrator's amazing film about And I was actually a sleepwalker once when I was a child.

Yeah, so dream for me, it's also source of inspiration and something I want to pursue.

And I think I wanna touch upon Pauline, but I think for time wise, we cut it now.

The film dips into a lot of very obvious references.

Some of it is a little like Richard Linklater's Waking Life.

There's psychedelic animation in it.

Other bits are a bit like Wolf of Wall Street, and there's a little bit of a big short in it.

But yeah, that's kind of what it was, just reading about history.

I had been exposed to Alex Jones from a movie.

I liked the movie Waking Life.

I saw it for the first time in high school.

I was like, that guy's interesting.
