Mm-hmm.

Um, it is called Pleasure Island, that used to operate in Wakefield, Massachusetts.

And on this episode we are going to dive into the very strange history of the park, some of its attractions, some weird intellectual properties that we have discovered, uh, that really nobody ever talks about, but made their way into this park, such as, little spoiler alert, Popeye the Sailor-

But, uh, there was a popular YouTube video a few years ago where, I think it was three years ago, these urban explorers went in and found the whale animatronic that we are going to be talking about that was in a giant lake today.

But more on this later.

We want to start with the history of Pleasure Island that, as I said, first opened in 1959 in Wakefield, Massachusetts.

Um, and all of the, uh, information that I've researched from today comes from a few different places, and I wanna cite them here for accuracy.

There were two other young adults who eventually became good friends with Devon and Brandon.

Andrew Onyschuk was born on April 27th, 1999 to Walt and Chris Onyschuk and grew up in Wakefield, Massachusetts.

His parents noticed his interest in fascism and Neo-Nazi ideas and tried to rein in his behavior.

He had an SS flag hanging in his room, but they wouldn't allow him to display a swastika, so he hung that flag in his closet.

As a survivor of this, it was claimed that Buffy was adopted as an infant by the Massachusetts family of Albert and Winifred Santa Maria.

The family raised Buffy along with an older sibling named Alan and later a younger sibling named Laney in Wakefield, Massachusetts with the last name of St. Marie, which the family changed during World War II due to anti-Italian prejudice.

Throughout her earliest days, and even into high school, there appears to be no mention of Buffy's roots or alleged native ancestry.

It wasn't until the early 60s

However, one article raised a big red flag for myself.

November 5th, 1963.

In her local Wakefield newspaper, it says, she told them she was half Meek Mall by birth.

But their stories leave some much bigger questions behind.

Well, you know, I'm, I'm very fortunate to have had the polls look promising, but we are not resting on our laurels.

I was out knocking doors in Wakefield, Massachusetts yesterday, uh, in the rain, because, you know, you can't control the weather, but you can control the attitude, and so we're out there no matter what.

I think w- there's a lot of different conversations right now in the Democratic Party about where we need to head.

I think we need to be unified by the fact that we need to be the party that's fighting for working people.
