Wairau Valley

He was over six foot, and he was about 14 stone, which today is 90 kilos.

By all accounts, he was quite a dashing sort of player, a natural, a talented man, and a strong and handsome Maori boy from the Wairau Pa.

He was described as having great pace and a wonderful pair of hands.

He grew up when times were tough in New Zealand, but he was blessed with a talent, and that allowed him to pursue his love of sports.
